So I heard that Phased plasma was bad for guristas... what ammunition should I be using in my 425mm AutoCannons against gurista rats? |

You need something that does Kinetic damage and Thermal. Phased Plasma doesnt do a lot of Kinetic but it does do a lot of Thermal.
Give Fusion a shot (that the explosive one) and see if that do more damage. You could give Titanium Sabot a try or even Depleted Uranium, but those are midrange ammo types, not up and close.

I use phased plasma M in my Hurricane against gurista's and its the best one for them im my opinion

Phased Plasma is best against Gurista rats....
the math is not straightforward and simple for projectile the same as it is for missiles.
The projectile does two different types of damage and so both need to be taken into account when doing the math. Use the resist percentages of the NPC in question and subtract that percentage from the corresponding resistance type base damages which the projectile does. Then you add both together for a total damage figure for that projectile.
In this fashion you can calculate which type projectile will do the most damage for a given NPC ship. Some rat factions will have a variety of resists percentages within the same type of NPC rate faction you may have two different projectile types that do the best damage against certain rats in that faction type.
But most of the time you can find one type projectile which will do the maximum damage to all the rats in a faction type if you take the time to do the maths. |

Autocannons in PvE? Well, that would be a wise choice in "Angel extravaganza" and all the missions vs Mercenaries, where - almost - all the BS's approach you in under 5kms range, but in all other lev 4's(assuming u r running lev 4's in your hurricane/cyclone), autocannons are a poor choice iskwise.
Phased plasma is by far the best ammo against guristas, serpentis and caldari though (fusion vs angels, EMP vs Amarr, Sansha, Drones AND Mordus).

i usually go with Barrage T2 ammo. It does lower your isk/h by a bit, but it may be worth it, if you run into range problems otherwise.

Phased plasma is my goto ammo unless I know I'm facing Explosive weak opponents (fusion) EM weak (EMP) or need range (Barrage).
Generally when missioning in a Maelstrom I carry a mix of Barrage and what ever ammo is appropriate for the rat type (pretty much PP unless I'm fighting Angels or Sansha I don't do faction missions so I don't have to really worry about anything else)
and while this isn't a PVP forum PP is my general use ammo for that as well. It's not usually the best ammo for any given situation but there aren't any situations where it's the worse. Making it a good general use ammo.
Will be interesting to see how things change with the tweaks to the T2 short range ammos though.

Loki? I don't fly one, but if I did, I'm pretty sure I'd fit it with 425s.
