So here I am, contemplating how IÆm going to use upwards of 2 million SP that are going to be returned to me when the learning skills are revoked.
Currently I have all the laser related and general gunnery skills at 4 with small and medium energy turrets at 5. I also have small and medium energy turret specialization at 4. My drone skills allow me to fly T2 scout drones but my missile skills are almost non-existent.
My skills in engineering and electronics are also largely at 4 and my Navigation skills will be soon.
My question is, as I have purposely worked myself into BCÆs as my primary warship, should I continue to pursue Lasers, or would I be better off using these new skill points to make the jump to Minmtar and projectile weapons? I like the lasers, but IÆm a little afraid that only being able to use EMP and Thermal damage will hinder me in my future PvP career.

Well it's worth considering that Amarr BS's with T2 guns are considered among the best fleet BS in the game, and it depends entirely on your skills (shield, navigation etc) on how fast it would be to cross-train, Amarr to Minmatar isn't exactly the lightest crosstraining. You will need shield tanking, good navigation and ontop of projectile weapons also missiles.

Stick with lasers, they are still one of, if not, the best weapon system in the game, and as the guy above me said amarr bs are the best in game. I would finish off that first then start crosstraining as there are alot more skills for minmatar than the ship skills and the projectiles.

Torps are fun. If you feel a little flush once your trained the scorpion navy issue is one of my favourite torp boats.

Edited by: VaMei on 01/12/2010 15:40:30 I'd suggest using those skill points for skills you want to have, but don't want to waste a neural remap to be able to train them optimally; for 3 months. Drones, Leadership, Social, Trade & Starbase defense skills come to mind.
You can easily build a 1 year skill plan so that Int/Mem or Will/Pers skills can be trained at optimal rates, but those other skills... You want them, you know you should have them, but you put them off to train something else faster.

Thank you all for your responses. After embarking on my Amarr career, I began reading so much of the Winmatar stuff that I began thinking I had made a terrible mistake. After looking at the frigate and cruiser lineup I almost biomassed this toon. It was only after looking at the harbinger and larger ships that I decided that there was a place for Amarr.
I still don't know if the Minmatar are really op and headed for a nerf or if they are just FOTM, but for now I'm thinking that my Harby aint to bad.

Just a thought....If you haven't done so already consider pumping that SP into Battlecruiser V. Will help with the Harby, and if at a later date you cross train into minmatar you still benefit.
Win-Win.

That is an idea I've been considering. I currently have battle cruiser at 4 but as a rank 6 skill its a big jump to 5. This may indeed be the time to jump it there

Yes BC 5 is long but it's one of the better skills you can get. add leadership 5 and warfare link spec 4 to that, it's charisma skills that you will most likely want later in the game. Needed for command ship. Rest of your SP could be good in armor compensation or take some of your gunnery support skills to 5, like rapid fire or motion predict.
