Edited by: Mesh Monroe on 02/12/2010 04:13:45 Is there anything in this game like the banks in World of Warcraft? For anybody unfamiliar, the banks in WoW allow you to drop items into your account and access them from any other bank in the WoW universe. I thought that was what I was doing when I left items in the 'Items' section of stations, but after 20 jumps to another station I realised it's a bit more realistic and you can only access stuff from the station you left it in.
If there isn't anything like that then how does everybody else deal with their tons of gathered equipment and materials?
It's a real pain to have to travel around various stations, or not being able to travel too far from one for fear of having to make the long journey back to it just to access my stuff.

I usually just leave stuff at one of several "home stations" that I work out of. I then use jump clones to travel to them. Each of these stations has all the items I need to operate in that given area.

Over time you'll learn to manage your assets. As has been said already most people tend to have one or two places that they spend most of their time in or near, and you pick a station there to make your "home" station or some such. Once you figure out where you'll be spending a lot of time just dump all your crap in a station there.
If you need to travel somewhere just plan ahead or buy what you need locally.

There's no magic teleportation of items. You want it moved, you have to move it yourself or set up a courier contract. CCP hinted here and there that Interbus would function as a NPC package delivery system, but they never implemented it.
We deal with the tons of equipment by realizing no item is unique in EVE. You can buy 50 battleships at every station you dock at (more or less). Set up bases of operation wherever you are, and once you're done, sell the stuff, move just your character, and re-buy the stuff at your new location.

Its all part of the logistics of Eve.
You either have to sell the stuff where it is or haul it all to where you want it.
Plenty of people have hauling careers in Eve, and will move your stuff for you. Look into Courier Contracts (i think thats what they are called)
But make sure you get a good deposit on your stuff or the courier may simply keep it. ------------------------ Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager / Explorer / SpaceBum "I've got a couple of Strippers on my ship... and they just love to dance!" ------------------------ |

Well imo the EVE system is preferable - you have unlimited storage! No other game I know has that it's really handy!
It also means that every once in a while you have to take some hours to get all your stuff in one or two places. As one of the above posters mentioned, once you know what and where you want to do your things, make a few bases where you have duplicate ships and things you need.

Not quite: every station has 1k (or, perhaps, 1001) stacks limit (same for cargo containers) and there's limited number of stations around, so...
But yes, much better than some 50 storage slots or whatever. |

I usually keep my assest in Station containers, have about 5 in every station where you seperate your mods.
As said above you have unlimited space which is brilliant,, if you set youself up in cans its easy enough just to contract them for a move.
and with the view contents option you can see what you h ave in them,
nothing i hate more then 50 od stations with items in and being all over the place ------------------------------------------------

I see. I would be working out of my makeshift "home" stations but missions keep leading me 20 jumps away, and needing me to stay there. I finished the Industry Tech School and the dude directed me to some woman 20 jumps away, and then after I finished hers she directed me to somebody else 8 jumps away. It seems I can't set up shop anywhere because I keep having to move to continue the missions.
I've been waiting for the end of this string of missions and recommended missions to return back to the station I liked but they haven't yet.
The courier service sounds helpful though. Thanks for bringing it up.
Also, what's jump cloning, like teleporting?

Yeah, that's the Epic Arc mission. It ends. Then the Agents will usually only send you a few jumps and often the missions take place in the same system.
Jump Clones are - another clone - that you can "jump" into from a distance.

Edited by: Funesta on 02/12/2010 19:01:11 Once you get a little more experience, you'll realize that you don't need everything you've obtained to perform basic operations.
When I do missions that require lots of jumps, like the sisters of eve epic arc, I only bring with me what I need. Usually, that's ammo, maybe a couple modules, and drones. I sometimes also bring a shuttle, if I expect to be in a system for a while, so I can head back "home" when I need to (for PI, in my case).
If you need to know where a specific item is, or where you've left caches of stuff, then use the asset button. It'll let you search your stuff for something specific, and it'll tell you every station that you have left stuff at.
Keep in mind that you can refine all the low value modules that you pick up in missions. The resulting minerals are usually more valuable than the actual module, easier to sell, and more compact to haul.

The epic arc and tutorials are designed to get you moving around a little bit. Once you are running missions "professionally", you will probably find one best mission agent that suits your needs in terms of location, faction, level, quality, and you'll constantly run missions for that agent. Those missions will only take you one or two jumps away and you'll always come "home" to complete the mission.
You may change this "operating base" from time to time, for example as you move up to higher level missions.
After 3 years in game, I have a "permanent base" where I keep all kinds of treasures and things, which has only changed once, and I have several of these "operating bases" where I might go to do missions, PVP, or some other little job. These change every few months.

Generally I base out of a handfull of "main" stations
On the odd ocurrence that I need to have stuff moved about and I cba then courier contracts.
Failing that I sell everything and just travel about isk rich
oh and I've been playing long enough that a 30 jump jolly isn't considered "a long way" any more. --

I just have one station I use as mission base. It has two level 4 agents, one high Q and one lowish Q. Then I fly missions from there.
If I want to move on, I relocate all my stuff to the w station.
(Actually I still has a lot of crap lying about in my old station I used to fly lvl 3 missions, but I'll get around to gathering and moving it soon.)
Also note the possibility of flying AFK. Get an Industrial, such as a Badger or Iteron, and fit it for passive defence, ideally with cheap T1 modules, then use that to move stuff AFK. Unless you're carrying meta 4 items, or faction or otherwise meta 6+ stuff, you're highly unlike to get ganked.
More advanced players like me use Blockage Runners. They're much like Industrials, but can carry only a few thousand cubic meters of cargo (which, mind you, is still plenty), but they fly much faster, 350 m/s or so, which helps a lot when autopiloting those last 15 km to the stargate, and they also warp must faster, at 9 AU/s compared to the 3 AU/s for an Industrial.
They can also be fitted for better passive defence (and of course as an advanced player I fit with T2 modules, but you don't really need that).
I've never been ganked in high-sec.
