Take for example a T1 ammo BP which you want to do invention on. Is it really worth it to spend say 2.5M on a decryptor on it? That will make the cost of attmepting the invention something like 12x greater
When the profit margin of the extra runs is greater than the cost of the decryptor (keeping in mind that you might have a greater chance of failure). Never use a decryptor on ammo, missiles, charges, etc. You're looking at your larger ticket items, like ships.

Have you considered getting a lowsec pos, buying the moon goo to make the t2 components, although its another pos to fuel etc etc.
It will cut down the cost of direct buying the t2 components for the items you are making.
Do PI (planetary Interaction) for your pos fuel, would'nt bother with ice mining as its cheap to buy the fuels that prodruces...
I am currently inventing, making the t2 components from moon goo i buy in, minng and ratting whilst the jobs are doing... this brings in about 1 bil a week for me, soo I can buy plexes for my 3 char's..
Also you could consider contacting a 0.0 alliance near you do have contracts for T2 items that you produce, this way you dont have to wait for items to sell in jita, and gets you a better rapor with 0.0 alliances/corps for later in the game as you will get bored with high sec eventually.. :D

I was under the impression that decryptors were not consumed in the invention process, so if you can use them to increase your results, why not use them?

I suggest you install EVEMEEP or EvEHQ with the invention plug in and let them give you the range of costs / profit that each item would yield depending on what decryptor (if any) you'd apply.
Here, with this now you have no excuse to not get e-rich. - Auditing & consulting

Thanks! I must have been getting Decryptors and data interfaces mixed. And hot dogs do get consumed....

Edited by: P3po on 12/03/2011 09:57:14 Iam producing T2 ammo for around 2 years allready, and iam making stable 500-600M a month with one pilot. The effort is like 1 hour inventing/manufacturing a month, and few hours hauling the materials and POS fuels (which is done AFK in freighter anyway).
Skillwise its easy, like month of training. And you need only small POS to supplyu 3 pilots manufacturing and inventing.
Oh, and i buy all items on Jita directly, no buy orders.
Its not like this will make bilionaire from me, but it pays for the GTC and i got some ISK left.
Oh, and no problem selling the items, they are usually sold in less than one day in Jita. In one day there is sold like 3 times more than i can produce in whole month, so no problems with that.

Edited by: Brygida Logoffinska on 16/03/2011 15:00:00 Well, from my experience:
-stuff that requires more clicks per day is more profitable; in example to get maximum efficiency from basic modules you need to set manufacturing jobs 3 times a day once per 8hr. (add clickfest on invention jobs to it)
-do your own calculations using direct sell orders on components (and POS fuel) and profits from selling to buyorders.. really, people that set buy orders for components, play 0.01 isk wars selling their stuff and in the meantime mine ice and do PI to get their fuel have too much time.. (or are just morons that haven't found more profitable things to do in the meantime)
tl;dr Calculate invention profit not mining/trading/invention profit..

Originally by: rain9441 There are many T1 items that seem to give more profit than T2 items. You have to remember that movement is a big deal.
Take LSE's for example. Just going by eve-metrics data for now.
You can make 200 some odd LSE I's at around 10k profit each -> 2mil/day. For one manufacturing slot that's pretty good. You can make what, 10 LSE II's per day at around 200k profit each -> 2mil/day. For one manufacturing slot that's ... the same!
The key factor: Jita only moves 900 LSE I's per day, while it moves over 3500 LSE II's per day. If you just make T1 items you'll end up producing 50+ different things and having trouble moving them all. Huge headache. It takes an army to supply one type of T2 mod in Jita. It takes 1 guy to supply Bestowers in Jita.
Every t2 item requires a t1 item during production.

I am making 1.5bil/month out of T1 production on one pilot. It will be 3bil with Adv. Mass Production 4. Materials off sell-orders, products go to buy-orders.
