I don't think there is any need to get all upset about the delay. The vote will likely happen, just not as intended (date-wise). With any company and the holiday span of Christmas to New Years, I can from experience say; they are probably at half staff at best. I know we are and I work for a hospital. It is probable that the issues of actual game bugs and fixes are taking priority at this time.
After re-reading the rules and thinking of alternate perceptions of how they might be taken; it is possible we will not see the voting selection until the 8th of January. While this could be wrong, I am not going to rule it out. Yes, I submitted works for consideration and heck ya I would like to win; but things are going to play out as they will. At least this time some slob from dA is not voting on how 'pretty' your background is.
Take it for what it is worth, a second opportunity. Member of the million AU Caracal Club |

I am not sure if the in-game voting - like that for the CSM would make much of a difference to the Facebook version; other than it would not be public access. EVE account voting has its bonuses. But, like Facebook, people have multiple accounts in EVE too. I am betting my sister's dog is going to vote. So, technically, you would get multiple votes in either system. I am always paranoid some major corp/alliance will tilt the vote, but that is life.
The idea of isk is good, but may not bring out as much interest unless it is a lot of isk. Likely would have to be billions. If that was the only award, I would not try for it. Personally, I would love to see this competition yearly - and as they hold more of them; the mechanism will improve.
I know that there is talk about how hard it is to make game models from art devs (in a variety of game engines not just this one) - sorry art devs, secret is out. It took me all of 30 minutes to figure out how to build, texture, animate, script, and convert a model from Lightwave to Torque, and that was 10 years ago. I bet it has gotten easier.
Either way; this hopefully is not the last contest. We all know what we want in the game, it just may take time to get it. If nothing else, at least they are letting us participate. This is not WOW. Member of the million AU Caracal Club |

Generally, I am not this big of an ass... ok that is a lie; I am.
Here is the deal.
The complaining is pointless. I hope to God, none of you are about to enter the working world, and if you are already in it you should know better.
The entry you put in is your resume of sorts. Thousands of resumes a day go through a medium sized company and are trashed so fast they never get more than the first lines read. We are talking simple text docs, not complex images. This is common practice and you will never hear a thing from the company you applied to. This is simply how it works. If CCP decides as a corporate entity to trash entries, that is their call. They don't have to send you a letter or call you and explain. If you are not familiar with the "Art of EVE" book you should look it up. There are actually very specific design descriptions for each race, even down to how the curves in Amarr ships are supposed to start and terminate.
As for the relentless complaining regarding the PNG files. Here is an original thought; try a different browser or convert the image to a different format.
Is Facebook the best way to vote, no - we have established that. Further bashing of that will not change the outcome.
I guess my ultimate point here is, the second contest was a gift, another opportunity. This contest entitles all of us to nothing other than the option to have the Art team see your work. Case and point. I hired an artist from the dA contest to do some ship model building side work for me. My life will continue after this and I will keep doing my own stuff; better for having tried than not.

Hey, just curious CCP...
You planning on making a call here? Pretty much anyone could win, I don't care which; but the suspense is killing me.
Thanks. Member of the million AU Caracal Club |

They don't have a balls to put in game something flaweless and f*****g awesome, which looks cool in all angles, something like Vaygr battlecruiser :)
That would indeed be sexy.

That is close to the expectation. The small print in the original posting for this contest stated that the winner would get into the game, but may not get in right away. I don't see that as a good reason to hold off on the announcement of the winner/s.
Again not sure what the hold off is. If they are going to announce at Fest, why not just have a Dev get on here and say that, should not be too hard to do. Also announcing the winner should not be contingent in the ship showing up in the game right away.
So, Devs, get on here and say something on the status of this - that is all we really want. Member of the million AU Caracal Club |

Originally by: Bhattran I guess there's still time for me to go to school for graphic design, get hooked up with some academic freebies, learn to use 3d modeling programs, graduate, get a job and make a few ships to enter then right?
Or get an aerospace engineering degree, invent warp drive, and fabricate the entire ship on your own after you become a trillionaire. Which actually might be more fun than playing internet spaceships. Member of the million AU Caracal Club |
