I have about 3m learning SP, as a relatively new player.
Will we be able to train skills normally, and simply assign the Learning SP by selecting skills in a menu? Do we automatically train any skill we queue up until we hit the Learning amount?
I didn't see on the blog exactly how this will work, so my main concern is, do I need to buy the skillbooks I want to put my points into prior to December 14th, or do I have time? |

You can right-click and assign whatever amount of points you type in, to whatever skill you want, until you deplete your 3m points. Whenever you want (they don't expire).

Unassigned skill points has only happened once before, but they will probably use the same mechanic (since otherwise they'd have to program it all over again). You train normally, your queue will continue on the 14th (unless you have learning skills in the queue, as they will be removed), and you see the 3m unassigned SP listed at the top of your skill list. You can hold onto those SP for as long as you like, they're not automatically spent, and they don't expire. To use them, you have to pause skill training queue, right click on your skill list and select apply SP, and type in how many SP to use (the default is enough to get to the next level). Then restart your skill queue, as it is a 5m CD between applying SP.
So, in short, you do not need to buy skill books prior to December 14.

Excellent! Thanks, I was unaware that there had previously been a mechanic in place for this.

Thanks for that link.
That's actually pretty cleverly done by CCP. I was already heavily using EVEMON + my calculator, to determine the exact amount of SP I would need to bump a skill to lv IV, for example (without overshooting, so to speak). Being able to just level up will make things so much easier! :) --
