Hi peeps:
Some interesting comments here, and I believe that the majority not only rules here but is in this case, quite correct with regards to the overall capacities of mining vessels and their potential for bringing a universal economy down to its knees. Supply & Demand is like an oxymoron... whereby each depends on the other and is directly opposed to the other.
As for me, the quintessential problem with mining vessels of ANY kind...is that they are all pretty much lame. Now if I was gonna ask SANTA for a new mining vessel... I would ask him to make sure mine was ARMED TO THE TEETH.
Hell ya, give me a 'COMBAT' mining mochine. One like REAL pirates & scallywags had with cannons smokin' from both sides of the ship, aye.
Mining vessels just cant fight back and it sux. Kid flew up to my Hulk a month ago with a straw and pocket full of spit-wads and took me out.
So if you're going to see the 'fat' man, please try to make it count for somethin' good.

Originally by: bigpaxi True with what you say, but the problems that I have encountered is that both the hulk and the mack must dock after two cycles. They fill up too fast and must use a orca or hauler to stay in the field. I am trying to get some more room at least in there hold.
Originally by: bigpaxi Here is my ship idea. 3 rigs cargo opt 1 &2. 5 strip miner 2, salvager and small trac. 6 medium slots. 6 low slots for the 2 mining 2 upgrades and 4 expaned cargo 2. To make a hold of 50k-100k. This is my idea for the ship. Use the hulk hull for this ship.
The only possible point you raise is the need to dock too frequently for a solo miner, otherwise what you're suggesting is a ship which combines two mining ships and a salvager... If you were to suggest a means for a solo miner to mine without having to jet and haul for more than a couple of cycles, say something Orca sized with half the cargo and a single strip (plus drones)... then you might have some support. You might even get some support for a 2 strip version...
However what you're suggesting is a Hulk, a Retriever, a Hauler and a Salvage frig in a single ship and that's just not going to fly. It's not going to reinstate mining as a profession, it's not going to increase your ability to fund your miner with PLEX... I don't want to see the days of <1 ISK Trit and empty belts return. --

i don't want more m3/hour, i want to be able to field heavy drones to kick the teeth in on any idiot who tries to get me.
also a stronger sheild would be nice.
not only would this be a neat new ship, people would have to use some mineral to replace all the pirate ships i kill.
this ship does need some drawbacks. i'd advocate for 25 m/s top speed and less cargo capacity, just for the extra drones.
no extra strip miner plz.
