No haste at all.
According to Nyphur's interview with CCP Greyscale on Massively, this was planned for the Apocrypha expansion, which came out in March 2009. It just never got finished. With the delay of Incursion they suddenly found the time to finish it up.

Delay would be very frustrating for players who started playing recently, after NPC stopped selling Learning skills, and therefore had limited options to acquire them (players sell them up to 100 times more expensive...). So the sooner this mess happens, the better.

Well you are thinking about this wrong. Eg I just blew 20 M on skill that will give me nothing.. Well you needed the skill's anyways as every old player here has the kill's trained up fairly nicely (I am going to assume at least) You are in the same boat as the rest of us you will be getting the training boost (as I am going to assume you are not 5/5) think as the training boost as pick me up and it only cost you 20M

Sorry, I didn't manage to figure out what you meant and who you were talking to. If it was addressed to me, then I think players who recently started to play are being put into an awkward situation atm - the learning skillbooks should have been still seeded on the market by NPCs right until December 14th. So that newbies wouldn't have to buy these books from players at even higher price.
As for me, I am a 5/5/5/+5 all and through, remapped to 15/9 and only going to lose a bit of speed. The only reason I want this mess finished ASAP is because I don't like the unbalanced situation new players are currently in. If I started today, I would be very... very much frustrated with not being able to buy all the nice learning skills and start increasing my speed right away (when I started playing, I was looking forward to Learnings).

Well .. you could also see it as you bought your skillbooks but you trained them all to V within a matter of days instead of months (as we did). You still get the attribute points the books eventually would have given you, it just doesn't take you any time.
So yes, it's unfortunate that you spend that amount of ISK - but if the learning skills hadn't been removed you had bought them anyway and spend months of time training them on top of that. So in the end you're still better off than the people that started playing before you, who also don't get their ISK refunded.

And now you see how much the elite of this game has dominated the underlings. What a ****. The OP is going to squeeze every little thing he can out the rest of us. **** you, *******. I'll see you in space.

Well you just could give us a little bit more time to train them to an appropriate level, so we could get at least a little advantage out of our investment.
Old: you spent 20M you're not gona get back and need to train those darn learning skills. You have to train learning skills for quite a bit of time before training usefull stuff.
New: you're still down 20M but CCP trains all those learning skills instantly to V for you and you can start training usefull stuff now at a rate which would have cost you several months of training learning skills.
You are better off in the new sitation compared to the old one. In both situations you're down 20M. There is no rationale behind your reasoning. Any sane person would pick the new situation over the old. Only the "feeling" that you wasted 20M can make you want to have the old situation longer.

The inactive account training nerf was dropped in with 2 days notice. 2 weeks is generous for something that isn't even a nerf. Harden up. |
