Do you feel stupid to find out that someone wrote a quick line of code to replace a human that watches a screen for 10 minutes only to drag an icon of a chunk of ice from one window to another?
Fix the game mechanic, if it is too complicated to macro, people wont macro it.

I think Eve would be a more interesting game if more was done to prevent macroing.
Competition over resources is what should drive conflict not "I've been spinning in the station all day and I'm bored".

Macros annoy me, and if i find them, i deplete the belt. same thing i'd be doing anyways.
sadly, i can't do that to ice fields.
/me supports hunting macros.

if ice mining was somewhat near interactive, and not check back every 10m and move ice to orca. and also not done in ships that are easily suicide ganked I might start to care about the macro ice miners. that said see point earlier about check back every 10m and move ice to orca, how can you be sure most of them are macros?

Macro ice miners keep ice product prices down, which is good for everyone who needs ice products. Macro ice miners also pay subscription fees which is good for CCP. The only group that is hurt by macro ice miners are players who are too dumb to find a more profitable way to make isk than to ice mine.

If the removal of bots were to have such a dramatic effect on ice and thus pos fuel prices, then couldn't ccp simply re-balance pos fuel requirements?

Nope. But agree with several in here that macro ice mining is sort of tough given the long cycle time of harvesters.
