so lvl 5's are in lowsec only, and from what I have heard, they are only worth doing under one of 4 conditions 1. you are duel boxing with unprobable ships 2. you are certain no one is going to bother you in the time to run the mission (highly unlikely) 3. your corp members are camping the gates killing everyone that comes though to let you complete it in peace(may not be worth the time and effort at this point) 4. you are running them in highsec (ccp supposedly "killed" this feature)
so how about it?

It was a bug that you could do level 5's in high sec, I'd be really interested to know what's the payout, and how many players do them vs. level 4's.
1 is true, although I can't say I know alot of ships that are like that. (t3's mostly) 2 is somewhat true.
I think really what it comes down to is blitzing level 5's, with a ship you can afford to lose, for a pirate that is too lazy to camp gates. War... War never ends. |

I run lvl5's in low sec regularly. I do not have the gates camped 23/7, in fact they are almost never camped. I don't necessarily have anyone on batphone either. I simply pay attention to local and watch for probes if any neutrals/reds enter system. The payout from my agent is about 8-9M isk + 78k LP at lvl5 social skills. Bounties are typically non-existent as I focus on the blitzable missions. I have not lost a pve ship in low sec to a player in the past 2 years of running low sec lvl4's and lvl5's in very easy to probe ships.
Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

1) wrong 2) wrong 3) wrong 4) wrong
1) you need two accounts (or two players) - some ships can solo most mission, but low DPS makes that not efficient
2,3,4) just watch out for neutrals/reds in local, watch for probes, and have a scout when jumping around and you should be ok 99% of the time

L5's are very profitable. And also very safe aslong as you are smart.
the fact your asking these questions tells me you wont be suitable for them.

Edited by: Zombie Jeebus on 09/12/2010 19:55:31 1.)I don't like unprobable fits for pve as they mostly gimp something and, now that you don't have to 'edit' your overview to add probes anymore, are completely unnecessary and do more harm than help. I usually use 2 clients when running a L5 simply to provide cap tx for my active tanked dps ship and once the neuting bs/towers are down, I switch the rr/logi ship for a second dps ship, or I use a carrier + something to melt small stuff.
2.)A lot of L5 can be completed in about the same amount of time as a long L4, so being bothered in the time it takes to finish isn't all that hard to avoid. Some are even blitzable in 5 minutes +/-
3.) There is a small alliance that does this near where I stay in low sec... their activities attract far more attention and trouble for them than if they had just had a small gang out there running the mission.
4.) There are a select few missions that still get sent to hi sec sometimes.. though almost all are low sec only now. This works out well for me as the ones that do go to hi sec on occasion are ones I always skip anyway
EDIT: Initial question.. no.. they are not worth doing at all.. leave them to suckers like us wasting our time.
This is not the alt you are looking for. |

i have a mix of lvl 4 + 5 on social. I did some level 5's. they are easy enough. the only hassle i found was the neuting!! oh man! it can f**k ur tank right up. I would say that a logi is def the way to go. The above is about right, although i've had as much at 89k lp for one mission.

Edited by: heheheh on 10/12/2010 13:44:38 Use a missile boat or a carrier, stay aligned to something all the time, warp if you see probes and use a scout when switching systems. Do all this correctly and you will never get caught. You do need a knowledge of low sec though if your going to be succesful, only you can decide whether that is the case,

Nope. Level 5's are garbage. Stay in hi-sec. Move along, nothing to see here. ________________________________ Stop nerfing everything! |

It's scaled with system sec. Mt agent is in 0.3 sec so he maxes at 78k LP. 89k is possible in 0.1 sec only.
