We've just completed yet another Various Deliveries hauling mission with 4 haulers (1 mk5 + 3x badger2).
Total amount to move was around 180.000 m3
It took a total of 1 hour 45 minutes to do this with 4 haulers.
The bonus is only 45 minutes long, while it should be 2 hours or 2.5 hours to be slightly realistic.

I used to get this mission quite a bit, It randomly offered me either a 45 minute or a 2 hours and 45 minute bonus.
Dunno what or why. ---------------------------

I think these missions were designed with the new "Freighter" class of ships in mind.

I had the mission a couple of times too. And my opinion is that its queit easily done within 20 min
As for me it always looked like a puzzle.
You need to carry goods from a to b from b to c and from d to c and from a to d blatieblatie bla
so make sure you read it all well plan your route and with 1 badger it could be done (-:

I did that the second time I got it.
I missed the deadline by 6 minutes, even if having 1x mark5 going fast with a couple containers and then 2x badger2 moving a whole stash to a new system.
With instas all the way I MIGHT have made it just barely with 3 haulers!
Then I get a "Elephantine haul" and for that, 3x less cargo to move, I get 3x as much time

This mission is just bugged, simple.

I did this mission earlier tonight. My load was 'only' 133 000m3 of containers to be shifted around 4 different stations.
I talked to the agent, checked the mission description and got into my speedy lil bastard Enyo.
I made instaBM's for the entire path including all gates, stations and back and forth so I'd never had to travel one meter unnecessary.
Then I got into my IteronV with a total of 21 700m3 of cargo space and accepted the mission. 28 minutes later I was finished. I netted the bonus which was 1M ISK and total reward for the mission was 2M ISK.
You must have gotten a very long route between each endpoint of the hauling tasks to not be able to finish it in time for cashing in the bonus :/.

How much can a badger haul? I often have to many containers for a Itty mk 5 and an itty mk4 to haul in 1 run.
You are talking about the level 4 version right?
Edit: My agent also enjoyed sending me +7 jumps between waypoints. ---------------------------

My badgers can haul 11, 10 and 10 of the mission cans (1.000 m3 each).
Mk5 can haul 23.
With instas, might have made it but the jumps were very far apart.
Also, since you can't escrow these items, my main who got the mission had to be at them all 4 to hand out or receive.
2 stations 1 jump apart, 1 station 5 jumps away, another station 7 jumps away, not sharing route with the one 5 jumps away

Ridari, is that a new (low effective standing) agent? As your standing increases, the ammount of jumps decreases. I think it actually makes sense if you can't get the bonus from the first few missions, but with the relative ease of lvl 3 missions you are familliar with, you might expect it.
If you really want to do these with bonus, get your standings up with that agent (or its corp - does that count?)...

I thought the Freighter class was only for intra system hauling, ie. station to station.

I was under the impression that it was a level 4 agent... Although I got the same mission from a level3 agent last night. I don't know if the haul size amount is significantly larger in the level 4 version of that mission, as I said I got it myself last night and the total haul amount was around 156,000 M3, and I was able to do it by myself within the bonus time with only one Badger MkII. Of course the farthest jump route was only about 6-8 round trip, and I was able to double up a couple of them. At the time I had about 5.0 standing with that agent and had done perhaps 40-50 missions with him... ---------------

Not to mention the fact that those ships aren't in the game yet, and won't likely be for some time yet... ---------------

Riddari, I must say that you had somewhat nailed the problem in your first post here. I just got the offer for Various Deliveries from a new agent.
Quote:
Various Deliveries Mission briefing We need you for a very massive courier job, nieo. It involves transporting 4 batches of cargo containers between various stations in no more than 24 hours. You will pick up the first batch at this station and transport it to Vittenyn VI - Moon 13 - Federation Navy Assembly Plant, from there you proceed to load the second batch into your cargo hold and transport it to Croleur III - Moon 1 - Republic Security Services Testing Facilities. The third batch will be located at that station, waiting to be transported to Alillere VI - Moon 3 - Caldari Business Tribunal Bureau Offices. From there you will pick up the last batch and drop it off at Pucherie VI - Moon 2 - Garoun Investment Bank Vault. Due to your good standing with the Gallente Federation we decided that you were the right man for this difficult task. The containers are also quite heavy due to their contents, so I advise you to invest in a good industrial before you take on this mission. You'll still have to pay the collateral, but I trust that's peanuts for someone like yourself. Let me know when you're done. Overview and Objectives The following objectives must be completed to finish the mission: Rewards The following rewards and bonuses will be yours if you complete this mission:
Collateral Prior to accepting this mission, the following must be provided by you as collateral, to be returned to you upon successful completion of the mission:
I'm counting to a total of 42 required jumps and 18 dock/undocking procedures to be taken within 45 minutes. That in my IteronV with 5x Partial Hulls. I know two lvl4 kill missions that are neigh on impossible to finish alone. With bad luck this mission is also impossible to finish before bonus time runs out. Last two times I had this mission I was given a generous 2h45m timelimit on the bonus, now its 45 minutes and very much too low.
Is this intentional?

Is there anything more carebearish in all of Eve than the LvL 4 "Elaphantine Haul" mission?
I've done it a few times myself. It's so absurd and slow that I run it in the background over the course of a work day. I don't care about the bonus - just give me that fat pile of Loyalty Points and standing increase.
I wonder what a Level 5 version of this mission will be like?

Yup, "Various Deliveries" is bigger and has 2-3x more LP!
The bonus is hard to get though... if you are lucky the containers are identical so you really only need to shift a couple containers between two stations and then a whole load to fourth station.
If you are unlucky, the sizes vary
I didn't know they could be escrowed . In my foolishness I thought that they had the same problem as other containers which can't be escrowed...

I just got this mission as a total noob, lvl 1 i think. Question is what type of ship is classed as an industrial? All I have is frigit lvl 3, can I even fly any type of cargo ship?

Couldn't you make a new topic, the last post before you was over a year ago.
But to answer your question, you need frigate 3 and Spaceship Command 3 to train the Industrial ship command skill (available on the market).

Edited by: Alerce on 09/02/2006 20:24:50 A tip for CORPS members that like to do this mission together.
There are stations out there, that have 4, yes thats correct 4x agents lvl 4 courier missions. Now imagine you have 4 people, that means you can all accept 16 missions. If you only take the various deliveries, you end up with 4 players, that got tons of containers all around.
Now like someone said, its the puzzle to see, how much containers you have to move netto. You do not have to transport ALL the containers, no the idea is to transport the containers, so in the end, every station has the containers it should have! Thats what you have to figure out and solve the puzzle, how many containers does every station need in the end. In that way you can skip a lot of hauls already.
No need to bring 15 giant from A to B, if you need to transport 20 giant from B to C for example. If you do it correct, you only have to move AWAY 5 containers from B to C and then B has the 15 containers it should need. So the 15 containers from A you can then move to spot C for example and it can well be, that from A to C is shorter.
Yes its logistic puzzle, but now the tricky stuff.
Imagine u do it as corps, you have 4 players and all 4 players try to get a mission, now if u can score several various deliviries, then combine the containers from all 4 players, trade containers to eachother, you can avoid to move around a lot of containers. So everyone can score way easilier mission success. But i still need to find the first corps, that really does this.

Odd. Usually the bonus time for me is about 4 hours to complete.

The normal level 4 bonus time I've seen on this is between 4 and 6 hours. As was explained, the trick is to work out the net movements of the cans and not actually do all the moving required.
Could someone also explain how you manage to use a freighter or get 23 cans into an iteron V to do this mission? I was under the impression that freighters don't carry cans and that you can't put cans into other cans?

Aren't the cans in a repackaged state for these missions?... does that let you load em into a freighter?.... when I get home I'll check.

Yes, a freighter can be used.
