Lets say a Corp thief/Scammer go to Iceland to attend the fanfest... By some reason someone finds out his ingame name and that info reaches the ears of the stolen corp with members attending the same fanfest.
Imagine a multi billion scam or theft... mixed with alcohol... insults and physical aggression following. Is CCP prepared? Did it ever happen?
I know i'm probably being too melodramatic, but some people just take the game too seriously. Right?! _________________________ CSM Candidate for 2011 (soon a pretty photoshop sig) Aelius 2011 Candidacy Guide Lines |

most people that go to fanfest are chilled, if physical agression did happen then ccp would have to inform the police. 0110001101100 01101110000001000 00011001010110110 10111000001101100 011011110111100101 1001010 01000000110 110101100101001000 000110100100100000 0111001101110000 0110010101100001011 010110010000 00110 |

Who wouldn't. (ingame)
I imagine most people in that situation would just pretend to be a little peeved, put on a show as it were. I doubt any normal person (the kind of person that isn't so involved with EVE that it's more than just a plain addiction to them) would start a fight over something like that.

'So u enjoy a gankfest huh? Well, gank this!!!'
But no... I gather most eve players who enjoy all this gankin-n-stuffs ingame are pretty big... hello kitties outside of it. ________________________________________________

People that go to the fanfest are generally good people. I don't know of any aggression incidents.
Mostly I get together with the enemy and laugh at how badly <insert my alliance at the time> sucked.

I've only seen a single attempt at MMO violence in my entire life, and it was laughably pathetic.
After being singled out as a scammer on a private Lineage II server by its GM, an alliance leader got banned from the game. Knowing they were living in the same town as the GM, two alliance members decided to go look for him and beat him up in retaliation for effectively destroying an entire alliance over a scam crime (nobody thought of, oh I dunno, elect a new alliance leader in his place.)
Anyway, they ran outside, beating instruments in hand, ready to teach that nasty GM a lesson!
Without any physical description or home address whatsoever.
Needless to say, nobody got hurt.

Last year at fanfest'09 there was a kerfuffle during one of the pub crawls with blood, broken glass, screaming and tears. But it wasn't player v player, it was player v non-player if I recall correctly.
I got ganked at Za'Ha'Dum, but I am ok now. |

This.
+1 ----------- Why is it called common sense, when it's clearly very rare.
I had a mind once, but alas, I seem to have forgotten where I left it.

I'd guess more than one of these incidents were raised, but quickly resolved, by the scammer agreeing to buy the victims a round or two at the pub. After all, it's only a game.
Though there is a reason why the Men's room in the basement is known as Rancer, and there's this dark little corner out back behind the stadium where security never checks... |

Asians apperently take MMO's very seriously. There have been a couple of murders over in game items (not eve) and there are apperently laws in the making (not sure if any have been implemented) to allow prosecution for in game theft.

Nu-uh... Oveur would drop-kick you so hard you'd end up in another time zone. True story, it has actually happened.
