Hey all. As I sit here trying to force myself to write a research paper for a sociological research course (why, why did I ever think taking a social-sciences based research course was a good idea!??) I have to wonder; have any of you had a course in university that you just hated with every ounce of your soul?
Applied maths major...social science research, while applied, is soooo wierd...
Back I go to reading intensely painful articles.

Well, i just finished my first semester of college with only core classes, so the one I hated most was composition, I suck at writing.

I am not really that academic. But there was one lecturer who taught maths and prologue(ai) during my comp sci degree that had the most insufferable tone of voice. It was incoherent, mumbling, meandering. If he would have actually shut up and leave me in silence to go through course notes and text book myself it would have been better.
I did not like university but I really enjoyed the college course I did before. Well it was not that hard.

Maths... and social science? You'd have to have a split personality to like that.

I just started my second quarter and I've got Comp 1 and problem solving 1 which I feel are going to be challenging (problem solving is easy but math is difficult for me which we will do a lot of) but I won't necessarily hate them, I just may be spending a bit of time with tutors on these 2. The rest of my classes are fun because we draw stuff!
I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to make it 11 weeks in the problem solving class without busting out laughing because our teacher has a thing with saying mmmkay after every sentence. I keep expecting him to pull out Mr. Hat.

I had a professor from Austria once for a calc course; not only did he sound like a supervillain, but he would erase with his left hand while writing on the board with his right, giving you literally seconds to write it down. All class. Every class. Yet, I still hated that class less than this social research course.

Research what you are going to study :P
The problem these days is people choose subjects based on what they will get accepted on or what will get them a good career.
Probably explain why most doctors are power hungry ****s

This is a terribly good idea. Although it doesn't always work out. I knew what I wanted to study, and after nearly 4 years, I am sick of it. **** sucks. If could go back in tiem and change myfield of stufy, I would.
So goddam bitter.

Zoology. Specimen lab mid-term identification under microscopes is the suck. Interesting, but the suck. Horribly difficult and I actually took 3 semesters of latin. You'd think I'd be able to remember 30 phylum and species at a moment's notice but nooooo.

I procrastinated some "Adaptation to college life" stupid course, as long as I could. Finally had to take it, or else... they talked about "drugs are bad" and "don't get pregnant" and stuff.... I was 32 years old, married with kids.

Edited by: Louis deGuerre on 13/12/2010 23:26:50 A tiny course in linguistic techniques which required about 30 minutes of study and a natural apititude for discerning stress in words...which I don't have.
Had to do the course many times and only passed when I proved to the professor that I could quote the entire book verbatim. Must have spent weeks on the damn course which was required to get my degree in AI $@$@$#@$ ----- Amicus Morte is recruiting. Dive into the world of 0.0 !

Edited by: Selinate on 14/12/2010 05:29:14 Too broad of a question. A better question is, have I ever had a university class that I just loved. The answer is yes. I've had about 3 of them (calc 2, plasma physics, Dynamics). I loved those classes because I had great teachers in those classes. The rest are utter crap. One semester, I had a professor decide to assign a take-home final exam and 2 lab reports due in the same week, and the worst thing about this is that this stupidity is the norm. When I have idiot professors like that, I start to wonder what I'm paying for...

I have yet to finnish a course called "the digital society", about the development of communication in the digital age today. I could see it might hve interesting parts, but they certainly aren't in the litterature.

Yah I recall a final year module that was hardcore software engineering based around C++.
The ****ter was, there were two types of people in that module. Those that had done C++ for their entire second year and knew their ******** from their elbow. Then there were those who had spent one term (of three) in their second year ****ing around with Visual Basic and were expected to be as competent as those who had spent a year doing C++.
****ing ****s.
I wish I could go back as I am now, as the hell IĘd raise would be merry (and slightly more so than a nervous and naive 20 year old is capable of).
