I've never seen one!
I'm looking hard for a screenshot of a Guardian (Amarr Logistics) class ship. That's not easy apparently! You can't find one on the test server (none are on sale) and I've never even heard of anyone in TQ ever actually flying one.
Where are these phantom vessels?

I know they exist, 2 people in my corp have them they dont use them though b/c they claim the ships aren't worth it. we also have a bp but we have never gotten an order for them.

I just saw one Guardian just outside my home station, they we're testing if a raven could hold shield boost and stuff indef, and it did, very cool ship i must say, and the energy transfer array graphics looks awsome

Healer classes are pointless in Eve, there's simply no reason to use them.

I also have a Gaurdian (Ship and BPO). I fly it alot. My corp mates love it. I can keep a raven shield tanked or an Apoc armor tanked forever. I just keep them full of cap and there you go. Very easy to do with such a great ship. I know of a few of us that have the BPO's. Here is a short list: DarkLogan Freewheeling Myself I have shown the gaurdian to a few players. They seemed to like it alot.

They have a great use in battlegranted, the only problem is there is no way you can try to defend them from direct fire while they do their job.

Which is why they're useless
They cost lots, are not very well insured, use a 30 million isk skill and are cruisers, which makes 'em pop easily.

clearly the people who say they are useless have never tried a high end complex and you make so much from them the support cruisers pay themselves off in no time

That's correct, I've never done a high level complex before. I do pvp and little else and that's usually what I'm referring to combat wise is in pvp situations.
Npcs are easily predictable in their behaviour, players are not. Granted the support cruisers may make a huge difference against complexes but in pvp they remain fairly expensive and just arent worth the price when an apoc can do the job just as well and have alot more armour.

Logistics ships simply don't make sense.
They are supposed to be "healer/buffer ships" but their own survivability is practically non-existent.
Also their repair strength just isn't good enough, battleships do a lot better repairing themselves, and if you use it to repair a wing of frigates the Logistics ship is called as a target within a few seconds and most likely dead a few seconds later.
Logistics ships should have extremly tough resits all around, the biggest cap you have ever seen and maximum high and medslots. Oh, and a ton of Grid/CPU. Then they should have +1000% CPU/gride on EW, Nosferatus and Energy Neutralizers so they can only be used to support people and not as the toughest EW/Energy Drain ship you have ever seen. Then they would be great.

Even against PvE they seem to be useless now. It seems the rats now switch targets if they can't kill a tanked player quick enough.

They work great in NPC V Player type battles, where the NPC's are too stupid to target the support ship first.
However, taking a support cruiser into a Player V Player ship would probably give you the life expectancy of a chooclate teapot in an oven ====================================

Logistics ships on the pvp battlefield are pointless because everyone in the battle goes "Look that ship cost crazy amounts of money and will be a huge loss. Quick, launch two vollies of cruise at it!"
The rest is history, and giving you another use out of that BPO.
Kinda sucks, I wish there was a better way to use them out on the battlefield, but I'm sure that CCP will do something to make them better.. I'd rather have dreddnaughts first tho! ----------------------

I have a logistics cruiser, and yes I actually use it. I've trained logistics to lvl4 which enables me to give 832 shield points every 5 secs ( 4x medium shield transfer units II) over a 39km range. I can keep this for 5 cycles before cap is gone. Full cap recharge time with my setup is 29secs. Im using a Scimitar for this.

Yea, but overall they are still not good enough to really allow people to simply not tank their ship at all, or use only hardeners and rely on logistics cruisers to do the repairing. Especially for races with cap and grid troubles useful logistics ships would change a lot...

log ships would have to either be very tanked, or almost unhitable to be usefull, because otherwise the BS pilots will see it shield boosting, armor reping, and cap boosting thier prey, and will blow it outa the sky _____________________________ Honor Glory And Strength! Look on the "Market Discussions" forum.
They have a sticky for tech II ships and gear.

Logistics ships should be able to tank themselves, and their defenses should be raise (where and what amounts should obviously be related to race/ship type). A Logistics ship, through the skill should be able to use it's tanking mods on itself. What would happen is, they could use all their mods on other ships to tank them, but if they needed to they could use some or all of their tanking mods on themselves and some on another ship. It would be less effective for both, but it would raise the survivability of the Logistics ship to more reasonable levels. I agree that as they are now they aren't very useful in PvP, and if PvE enemies do indeed retarget the Logistics ship their use in PvE is debattable as well. Certainly not worth the expense and use...

I remember there was a similar class in Earth & Beyond, that basically stood back and did buffing and healing.
The difference is that they could die over and over and just be resucitated with only a levelling 'debt'. And die they did. A LOT.
I can understand the concept of logistics craft, but they're poorly executed. If you want tracking boosts, use a Blackbird. If you want a healer, use an Apoc. Both do the job better. ----------- Fighting for the ideals of freespace, posthuman ethics, and rock & roll. |

Edited by: Halo Jones on 16/01/2005 01:46:08 We sell Guardians.
i assume when the tech 2 gear for sucha ship is released it will prove useful.
Currently they make excellent aids in a lvl4 complex where the agent runner warps ina dn then the guardian sits and boosts him throught out, so there is no permanent damage, and the complex can be performed much more swiftly.

A way to boost use of Logships would be to simply raise their resitances. Say it's a caldari log ship, give it base sield resistances in the 60's to 80's. Why not ? It's not like these ships can kill you, and you can technically bring it down, it would just be a little work. CCP I think I've actually come up with an idea that would work where you wouldn't need to nerf tanking gear to make people use the Logship!
I'm crazy I know!

If you have an extra man, what ship would you put him in? Id rather have my buddy in a BS than a logistics support ship. Hell even a BC is preferred.
Defence is for loosers. Now if that ship provided significant damage boost, then maybe. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

Its because a bb or a bs can do the same crap, armour rep = bs, tracking/targeting = bb or scorp same crap less loss after insurance on top of stupid skills. _ _ How many pilots does it take to wire a Flux Capacitor? 3, 1 to wire it and 2 to talk about how the old one was better. |
