I was going to do the level 1 sister epic arc to get my minmatar standing up, can anyone recommend a ship for running it? One that can run the whole thing with out needing to reship is preferred.

Most of the SOE arc is trivial in a decently skilled Assault Frigate. If I recall correctly there is one mission with an NPC carrier and battleship fleet. I took a Drake to kill the BS ... I'm not sure you can take the carrier solo, though I know it has been done with fleets ... this mission can be completed without engaging these NPCs so an Assault Frigate works fine there too unless you want the bounties.

Are the bounty/loot/salvage form the NPC decent? I also remember something about a fleet of minmatar dreadnoughts that you don't have to fight. Are they worth killing?

I used a cruiser for most of it and then took the carrior and bs's out with a Mach. I know, i did it late in the game. The carrier took a long time to take down, but the loot was worth it.

Edited by: Aamrr on 14/12/2010 17:30:33 If you can use it well, a slicer is a perfect. No ammo concerns, aligns lightning quick, snipes webbers at 20km out, with enough DPS to kill Dagan.
I bought 2 scorch crystals at the start and they were half broken by the end.

Assuming this is your main character - a character with no standings towards any corp or faction whatsoever - I would recommend NOT to do the Epic Arc yet. Better train up a bit first, run some lev 1 missions at Rens, until you can properly fit a Destroyer class ship.

I did all of it except the very last mission in a destroyer.
The last guy in the last mission repairs faster than a single destroyer (in t1 fitting, with relatively newb skills) can deal damage. I think we used about 3 destroyers to kill him. So, for him, you'll want something a little bigger or you'll want to bring friends.

I endorse this product and/or service. Slicer is a great way to go. I've also used a both a Worm and a Dramiel for lols.

First time I did it in a Moa until I ran into Burning Down the Hive, got scrammed, and lost my first ship ever. I later finished up in a Drake. Second time I did it in a Caracal Navy Issue. Both of these ships were complete overkill for this arc. Third time I would definitely go with an AF or pirate frigate. The whole thing is really trivial anyway except for Burning Down the Hive (two or three Strain scram drones in the first room) and the last part with Dagan (he repairs fast, and his resistances depend on which commander you pick).

Breacher to start with - up to the gallente section. Thrasher from then on until the final three kill missions - cruiser,BC and Dagan. For those I flew a caracal.
HAd a salvager on all ships and a tractor on the last two.

Is there any reason why using a larger ship like a paladin would be a bad idea? Is there a size limit on any of the missions? Is there any special loot that is worth using a pally to grab while you mission?

The epic arc is full of frigs and cruisers. Battleships excel at killing other battleships.
Also, the epic arc involves traveling halfway across New Eden. It's all go-here-go-there. Ships that align quickly and fly fast are good for making traveling about more bearable.

Duh, a tech 1 frigate can handle most of the SOE epic arc; it is supposed to be a sort of tutorial after all. Only Dagan can be a hard nail to break for solo frigate but there are always people around Arnon that one can ask for assistance. And no, you cannot be killed by fleet members in high sec without them suffering a CONCORD responce.

The hordes of frigs and the eighty+ jumps you have to do (sometimes 20-26 in a row) come to mind.

Didn't check; they are for sure accessible in a battlecruiser.

I don't remember seeing any, but people say there's an optional carrier and battleship spawn in there somewhere.

First time I did it all with a Thrasher except the last two. You can also salvage with that ship. Unfortunately you just plain need a cruiser or a friend to kill Dagan. I used a Maelstrom.
Second time I used a salvage fit Maelstrom for some, a faction frig for others, it went faster.
Mostly it is frigates, but there are cruisers and even battle-cruisers in a few missions, but they can be speed tanked, even in a destroyer. So only Dagan, the last ship you kill in the arc, absolutely requires more than a destroyer. Though some of the drone missions in the middle are hard to survive, there are lots of frigate sized drones coming after you. But caution would make a bigger difference than a cruiser.
In the first few couple of missions there is an inanimate scene of the ruins of Minmatar and Amarr battleships and Dreadnaughts, but these do not do anything, it's just a plot device and scenery.

Quote:
A well fit but lowish skilled destroyer might take Dagan - if you select the right damage type for the right version of Dagan - 100 DPS or so is about minimum but it would take a while, a cruiser is easier. Similar for the prophecy or harbinger hull you need to kill in the previous mission.
