Originally by: Tony SoXai So there's been a lot of debate on whether solo PvP is dead or not. The truth is that it isn't dead. It just isn't insanely popular at the moment, but it can be done if you set your mind to it and don't aimlessly wander about, which can run you into gatecamps/dram tacklers. It can be boring to have to take your time and be patient when finding targets, but that's the price you pay to be a successful solo PvPer.
I learned this the hard way and lost many Vexors to stupidity and impatience. If you are serious about solo PvP, a piece of advice is to make an alt and train it for covops/probing to find you targets. I would also reccomend you stay in a certain system only for as long as you can before the local campers begin to take notice, then change system. I usually follow a "circuit" around the eve universe going in a kind of circle, but sometimes I also decide to take a trip into deep 0.0
Anyway, here is the Ishtar that I use For solo PvP and also for 1v1ing people in Amarr/Dodixie sometimes.
[Ishtar, Supertar] 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I True Sansha Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane True Sansha Armor EM Hardener True Sansha Armor Explosive Hardener Damage Control II

It's got 65k ehp (75k with hardners on overload) and 600 dps. Dual prop and double webs. It is able to flee pretty much any 1v1 it gets into, if it has to. The faction isn't absolutely nevessary it just gives better tank and stuff.
I just mean to show that Vagabonds and Curses aren't even close to the only ships viable for solo. Just don't buy your T2/pirate ship before you have had lots of experience in cheaper ships. Start with having 1v1s with other frigs and practicing you GTFO abilities and also your abilties to keep on them if they try to GTFO. Get used to cliking on a celestial on your overview and spamming the warp button as your ships is about to blow up and get to know all of the station mechanics like the 30 second timers ad stuff. Make safespots because you will undoubtedly be back in that system some day even if you plan on leaving soon.
Overall just be careful but don't be afraid to engage outnumbered (not by a lot though). You won't get good by reading eft or forums though, the best way to do it is to get out there and practice for yourself.
This post is mostly directed at those of you who haven't experienced "good" pvp yet but all comments are of course welcome.
I would also like a rating and critique of my Ishtar :)
I can say Solo Pvp is dead because all the WoW players and other noobs who have no real skill/talent migrated to EvE and now all you see is ganks and blobs.
Blob killmails are not even worth posting IMO.
If you see solo pvp tell me where it is because I do not find it often.
