i.e. would it be a worthy investment of the learning skill refund? I currently have it to level 4.

It can be the difference between squeezing that last gun on... or squeezing your pod into a Maruader

Yes.
Unless you like using fitting implants for those extra tight fits.
I myself only have AWU IV, but getting it to V is on my long term plan. Sarcasm - Because i'm too far away to strangle you. |

You need it for Marauders. And it can make a difference on very tight fits on high end ships.
IMHO, the best place to put the learning skill refund is on something that you are not mapped to, and will never map to. Like a Charisma skill. Wing Commander V, Anchoring V, Social skills if you want to improve your Concorde standings faster, etc.

I personally think that all skills should be capped at 4 since "all the new players"(tm) find it so tedious and unfair advantage for the 133t people. One might actually ask oneself if they infact do "add anything to the game"(tm) besides vets feeing superioritah and nubbs feeling inferior???

Did you feel the wind from that one?
As a pain in the ass as it is, having that skill gives the advantage on some fits. More than a few go right to the mark on CPU/PG both.

Also having it to 5 can unlock some nifty fits with a 3% or 5% powergird implant.

It depends entirely on what you want to fly, or plan to fly. If AWU5 is going to mean you can fit X ship that you've always wanted to fly, or saves you money in the form of fitting implants, then go for it. I've been playing for almost 4 years and I don't have AWU5, simply because none of the ships I fly require it. ---

Short answer: Yes
Long answer: As a 6+ year vet, all I've got left are level 5's (for skills I care about, and most of those are already at 5 anyways).
My skill plan is more or less complete - I can fly any subcap gallente ship with maxed skills on ship, weapons, modules, and drones. Hell, I even trained shield recharge rate and hp skills to max, for that extra bit of damage soak.
Considering what race to cross-train to. Capital ships hold little interest - I find battleships fairly tedious as is. I can't imagine flying a giant brick (even if it is a resilient, potent brick) would suit my enjoyment of smaller, zoomie ships.

+1....eft what you fly now, and what you may fly in the future for like a year. All my pg problem ships that need stuff like ACR....I need AWU higher than 5 to pull the ACR's lol. EFT numbers said at 5 ACR not going away...I said lets shelve AWU 5 for later. But those are my ships and fittings I run. Also the fittings for ships for the future I have pulled off of fleet fits in null sec crews I have been in to give me training guidance. Run your own numbers and see if worht the time for you.

Thanks for your replies guys.... It looks like there are some split thoughts over it. I think I will use the refunded points on other areas and train AWU 5 at some point in the future.

As everyone else has said yes.
Reasons
Marauders Dreads Fitting t2.
Seriously this few extra % of powergrid is the difference between fitting full t2 and having 1 missing weapon.

Absolutely. It makes a huge difference. That little bit of grid can open up incredible options, especially if you add in a PG implant.

I was just thinking about this...finishing 5 in 6 more days...was wondering if it was going to make much difference...decided to train it so I could get in a Vargur, so it's useful for something than just pg for turrets and launchers. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

Edited by: Antihrist Pripravnik on 15/12/2010 01:16:40 If you ever intend to fly a Nighthawk, or any other Caldari ship fitted to their limits, AWU 5 is a must. Caldari have the lowest powergrid of all races.
Yes, even a Drake must use PG implant or AWU 5 to be fitted properly (other variation of that fit includes CPU implant, but that's another story).

100% yes
I cannot tell you the number of times my fits have come down to me having just 2-3 powergrid left open. If you plan on trying to full T2 fit, it's pretty much necessary. The other option is to spend tons on the high-cost implants, but you can forget it if you're planning to do any PvP, especially out in 0.0.
I'd immediately spend my learning skillpoints on it again if I didn't already have it.

Yep, great skill to have.
And on the plus side, when CCP remove all level 5 skills, you can spend the SP you put into AWU V on a load of level 4 skills.

not exactly sure when I did it, or what ship it let me fit, but it is an awesome skill and I know I have a bunch of eft fits that don't work with lv4 but work with lv5.
