Edited by: Diefurcht on 16/12/2010 05:49:52 Hello,
I been getting into the electronic warfare lately and had a few questions.
1. ECM / Question: Let's say I'm in a Caldari Rokh, and as you know they use "Gravimetric Sensors" right? With that being said, if a scorpion comes along and uses a "Ladar ECM" against me... can I still be jammed?
2. Sensor Backup Arrays - This follows the above question, if I am in a Caldari Rokh, and I use the Gravimetric Sensor Backup Array, how is that preventing some nubcake from coming along with a ladar and jamming me still?
- How does multifrequency fit into the above (2) questions? I'm confused. :)

Even Racial jammers ("Ladar ECM") has some strength against all types (1 I believe, do a Show Info) and in most cases, using 4 different racial jammers is better net result than using 4 multispectral. Unless you are jamming multiple targets, then multispec perform slightly better. But that's inneffective to begin with.
Again yes it is, because you only need to buff your own type but like I said, racial jammers do a bit to all types too.
Multis do equal amounts to everything.

Edited by: Alara IonStorm on 16/12/2010 06:09:12 Ok your ship is a Griffen in this example running 4 LADAR II's with a sig amp and 2 rigs.
There are as you know 5 types of Jammers. Each has a 1 main type and the other 3 are much weaker, Multi is equal across the board.
Griffen with LADAR
LADAR Jam Strength 9.9 Other 3 Jam Strength 3.31
Rohk Sensor Strength 24
That means your Griffen has a 3.31 out of 24 chance to get a jam. If you have a Grav Jammer it jumps to 9.9 as it is it's main Jam type and the others are 3.31, if you have a Multi your chance is 6.6 across the board but your range is reduced. Once you get into falloff you start to loose Jam Strength.
So basically it is a chance based system with Racial ECM having a better jam strength towards there own type. All ECCM does is boost your Sensor Strength to lessen the chance of them getting a hit.
Rohk Sensor Strength W/O any ECCM 24 Rohk Sensor Strength With 1 ECCM II 47
Hope that cleared a bit up.
-- I can not decide on a sig yet.
Under Construction.

I don't know if it cleared it up for the original poster, but that was a concise explanation that cleared up several questions for me. Thanks.

Alara had a good explanation but another item to consider is cap and range. Multispect jammers have a shorter range and use more cap. This could make a difference as you have to get closer to the action which puts you in more danger. The additional cap usage could also play a factor if the battle last very long.
