First of all, the characters are VERY realistic. You definitely can make nice looking humans with it.
The one thing I think you guys are totally missing on is racial identity. For example, Gallente are flamboyant, entertainment loving, over the top kind of characters, this is not being reflected in the hair styles, colors, makeup or clothing. I think one thing that was done very well in the 'old' character creation system was that the different races and sub races all had a very distinct look. The flamboyant Gallente, the Royal Amarr, the cold and militaristic Caldari and the Rag-Tag Minmatar. The new system, though looking fantastic, reminds me more of what I would see in a Sims Online or a Barbi character creation screen.
Clothing needs to be more race specific too. My current character wears something that is very revealing. This would be totally inappropriate for a Caldari, but having a Gallente is a Leather Jacket doesn't look right. I still have to wait till I can delete one of my characters to try out the other races and genders, but the three I've seen so far were way to homogeneous.
Face Tatoos and Makeup... definitely needs work. Again, this is an age quite far into the future, the options I'm seeing are more or less what people are walking around with today.
Then there are the sun glasses... well, they are fantastic if this was TopGun Online. For a space age software, they don't feel right. Where are all the Visors, face shields, masks and so on that the old system had.
Height: Since not all humanoids are the same height, it might make sense to give us the option to select the height maybe in the range of 60%-120% of average per race/gender with each race/gender having their own average height.
All in all, as beautiful as the humanoid renderings are, I feel that they are more appropriate to a current age Sim style software than Eve Online. The options are by far not outrageous enough in terms of hair color, style, clothing and so on. In addition, the racial identity has totally been lost. Before, you could look at a portrait and see what race they are, now, any character could be almost anything. Well, I've tried with my three characters, all female, one Gallente, one Caldari and one Amarr. I wasn't able to tell which one was which after I was done.
Given the deep changes in looks and that in many cases, you can't really recreate what your character looked like for the last seven years, it might make sense to give the option to change race, gender and all that when re-creating the character.
I also feel that it might make sense to give us a fourth character slot since most of us already have all 3 characters slots used.
