I run an Ishtar and use t2 hvy, med, light drones to kill stuff with. I have all the drone skills except racials to 5 where drone damage is concerned. Don't have t2 sentries yet, not sure if that would be speedier or not.
Just wondering if a pilot with a missle or gun boat boat with t2 and similar damage skills as me finishes the missions faster, alot faster, or in about the same amount of time as it takes me. Sorta wondering because I went drones so I wouldn't have to buy ammo but if it's alot slower, the isk saved might not really have been worth it.

Can' tell you that but having nice skils in drones and running my mission in an navy bs i think it must be 50/50, cause of ships bonuses.
You should take same kind of char, similar skil points, and run the same mission to make yourself an idea but ther's something all skils you've trained woun't change, the guy behind the screen, and that makes the difference.

a faction/T2 BS with good gunnery/missile skill can deal about 1000+ dps while your ishtar can do 600dps at best
so yeah a BS would be almost 2x faster at killing rats

Cool, thnx, thats the info I was looking for.
Still kinda happy with drones as I can AFK kill missions. I remembered that feature after I posted, hehe.

Sentry drones are much faster running missions. If you dont deal with angels in general, or mercs where the initial dps of the ishtar might not be enough to pop the ships before they get too close. A reasonable step up from the ishtar if you dont have to move, is the dominix with 5 guns and sentry rigs. (or 6 guns if you dont feel limited by the 60km engagement limit with max skills)
With that beeing said, a proper gunnery ship (that doesnt rely on rails) has much more tracking than your railguns will ever have on the dominix, so take the dps numbers in EFT with a grain of salt.

artillery boats hve worst tracking than rail and also lower dps and they do mission just fine.
they have the advantage of selectable damage type but you mission against serpentis (gal mish)you are already dealing the best dmg type

Machariel is a gunnery ship and i can hit frigs 10 km away with auto cannons or instapop frigs at 60+km with autos. So gunnery is better

550 dps to 75 plus km from Sentry II makes you faster then all but a few non cap ships in eve. Really only a Tengu can clear faster.
Really the speed I can clear sanctums or havens in a 2 sentry rigged domi or ishtar suprises the heck out of my corp mates.

Get T2 sentrys,
get a Rattlesnake with faction tank mods
Profit..
I good Rattle with sentrys fit should do a nice 700+dps and still tank great..
