Well, good times behind and good times ahead. I do need to tip my hat to the defensive plexers on the Minmatar side. I've spent a lot of time with them over the past few months, and most of the pilots were respectable individuals and we had good conversation. My accolades and commentary speaks both pre and post Nulli. Those tasked with defending the Taff pocket, my hat goes off to you, you have excelled in ways other groups would only dream of. Your persistence at defending your home, with no reward, is respectable and formidable. The groups in charge of the Dal cluster and Arzad, you too presented a challenge, both in your persistence of pursuit and willingness to spend hours upon hours undoing all of my work (youuuu bast*rds). While peoples' willingness to stay around and try to catch me tapered off near the end (which kind of sucked by the way, I enjoyed the cat and mouse the most), your unfaltering willingness to spend countless unrewarded hours defensive plexing while I was asleep.. I tip my hat.
I think it's often lost to many in faction warfare that, according to the current mechanics as defined by the sandbox.. the PVP extends to activities that don't normally constitute PVP. Maybe in my times spent plexing over the past few months, I've come to realize that in its current iteration, Faction warfare presents the ability to meta PVP within the game. You still have your actual fighting, and the added intricacies of ship class limitations at the choicest locations/objectives, but you also have a war of the mind. How far will you go to win? How bored are you willing to be, how many times will you orbit the button? What is the strength of your convictions and your tenacity and fortitude to see your convictions manifested? Whether that was intended or not doesn't matter; that is simply how it is.
Tier 4 wasn't the goal from the outset, but between fighting against hordes of defensive plexers, time box limitations from major contributing parties, alts of the enemy performing psyops and physical issues, a lack of SP/ISK, I'm proud of what Amarr accomplished, collectively. I thank Nulli for their support with capturing the ihubs (40 captured in 12 hours is no small feat), I also thank the other members of the Amarr militia ( I didn't vuln >all< of those 20 systems we had before Nulli joined by myself). While I don't wish to encourage Amarr to fall back on their laurels and break their own backs with self-aggrandizing praise, I do think some congratulations and "well dones" are in order. We definitely didn't do too bad for our first attempt. Next time, we should be better prepared for the challenges we faced, and hopefully able to capitalize for even greater reward. I know that tier 4 was a much needed/welcomed capital injection for many of the Amarr fighters (I walked away from the 8 hours of bouncing to tier 4 yesterday with 30b banked), and hopefully we make the best of it.
It is kind of sad though, that our general consensus/plan now involves using isk gained in the tier 4 push to PLEX alts into existence to run missions from minmatar hubs/run complexes in caldari space and cash out with Minmatar LP when they push themselves to tier 5; but.. again this is the way the system is currently built.. Regardless, we'll still get fights close by, and with everyone rich, they should be well and truly glorious.
I'm sure many will try to take away from the Amarr militia's accomplishments, this has already begun. I'm sure many Amarr will go into the meta of "We didn't want tier 5 anyways," I'm sure that's already started too. The truth of the matter is, we didn't need tier 5, no one ever does. I do think we did need tier 4, and we got it. We needed to prove it was able to occur. The people that were actively involved in the militia fleets and their respective corporation operations know that we didn't ride on the backs of Nulli, and Nulli knows they didn't ride on our backs either; but we all know that we don't need Nulli to do what was done, and we could do it again if it is needed; but it's not. It's far easier to run missions/plexes on a Minmatar alt for the ISK, and pew pew pew on the Amarr. It truly is the best of both worlds, the quickest fights (undock in kourmonen, get fite), the quickest ISK(undock SB alt in deep metro mission hub, run mission, cash in, profit).
Either way, congrats to all. As the 40-ish systems currently burn with raising contention levels, I find peace in knowing that a lot of that upcoming ISK is going to find its way back into the pockets of the Amarr militia as well. |
