Hi,
What is the best ship for mission running in (lvl4)?
I'm currently using a CNR but it just seems to take ages to kill anything, all t2 mods + launchers + rigs, npc damage specific too.
I was thinking maybe a megathron with blasters for close range missions and the biggest ones for long range?
Just want the highest damage possible with no tank!

Possibly a problem with the CNR setup. You're using 4 x BCS, 3 x rigors on it? Try the machariel/vargur if you wanna go for something different, they are excellent.

If you already missile skilled I suggest upping to a golem with torps for the close range missions. or possibly a Tengu.
My plan is to have one of each
CNR -> Long range Golem -> Short Range heavy Battleship missions Tengu - > missions with mostly cruiser class ships
Lots of threads around on the pros and cons of each ship and of coarse it all comes down to personal preference.

Out of the three listed the tengu is all that you need to do any lvl 4 mission and it performes vary nicely on long range.

Edited by: Sven Hammerstorm on 24/12/2010 16:16:12 I believe this will be satisfactory. As an added bonus, it will be hard to get suicide ganked. The rigs are a bit costly though.

You'll probably want a couple more tracking enhancers for that fit.

tengu can compete with any other ships, I run all missions with my tengu without any problem at all. it can do long range, short range, mid range, frigs, cruiser, BS, BC name it it can take it on. so I always use the same ship I just change the hardners according to missions.
but I too would like different ships just to say I have them :) but again with the tengu you can easily do all lvl4 top quality missions with ease.
the time your golem or cnr takes to get rid of frigs I use it to take down the larger BS with large bounties so at the end of the day it comes down to the same time.

Your golem or CNR is taking frigs out *while* it's also shooting BS, it's nice having a dronebay. I'm not really fond of either though.
Use a CNR for the missions your Nightmare can't do. Alternatively you can't go wrong with a Mach, as has been said for god knows how long now.

golem can one or 2 shot most frigs. imo golems are one of the best but i still like my tengu due to it being able to do ALOT more different roles even non pve.

fail setup is fail officer cap rechargers are not needed since titan has a bonus ya know..... also having ridiculous priced cap rechargers is more fail cause you go all out on cap rechargers and go cheap on dmg mods.... why not get better dmg mods and tracking comps for that money ;)

Golem is the best to me. Just for the loot factor and massive DPS. I can hit with Javs out to 59km I think which is plenty of range.
Frigs are no problem with 5 light and 5 medium drones and many of the frigs I can one shot. You just have to get experience on which ones die quick interceptors or such I use the drones.
For heavy alpha strike missions from the badguys I use my nighthawk or some of the cruiser heavy missions. Worlds collide Serp side comes to mind huge dps.
Of course Nighthawk and Golem take far more skills than tengu, I have a tengu but find nothing special about it in missions. Takes longer about it.

Mach of course.
Tengu and Golem are allegedly pretty good for rushing LP.

I use a vargur, nothing fancy on it. Just t2 stuff. I just have max skills for that ship. All i do is change the ammo for the missions. One shot all frigates, two shot bc and autocannons are wonderfull agains bs.
No need to worry about close range or long range missions with it.
Maelstrom is pretty good too, arty will one shot battleships

It's hard to beat CNR damage wise, at least on paper. If you are already willing to go with short range weaponry why dont you switch to torpedoes. Torp CNR will beat the crap out of Blaster mega in level 4 missions. At least on paper. In practice torps have some troubles with small stuff and unless you have remote repairs on you the tank will be rather thin or rather expensive.
The alternative is to go for turret ships doing proper damage against your opponents, ie lasers against sansha/blood/drone, projectile for anything else (hybrids are not at the top of the pile currently for anything). Even if your on paper dps might be a bit lower instant damage and not doing the 'overkill' volleys will make you more effective in some missions.
Ravenkind is usually not 'the best' ship for particular missions, its usually the most universal one. You can fight any faction in it without taking noticeable drop in effectivity. That out of the way it's not far behind the turret platforms in the missions suitable for them.

Well i didnt try enything except raven , cnr or golem for lv4 missions, but in my opinion golem rules, you pop ships like popcorns, frigs bs you name it.It has to be very skilled and fited with excpensive modules. But time to complete missions is awesome. Maybe im wrong,if someone knows his times for completeing the lv4 missions please write. My times are (at fricoure station) damsell in distress 14 min mordus headhunters 26 min buzz kill objectives 19 min angel extravaganza 46 min with bonus room the assault 32 min vengeance objectives 28 few missions are done while my skils were poorer, so maybe today i would have better time 2-3 min. i dont kill missile towers and when the last ship is killed i stop counting the time. Hoping to see someone elses times, by
