Tritanium is an income vehicle for newboots and bitter vets.
There are ungodly quantities available on the market but it seems to hold its value. Is there an artificial floor on trit?
If so wouldn't it benefit the real market to remove that floor?

There is only supply and demand to dictate the price.

Nope, in the past the price ceiling was dictated by the cost of shuttles sold by NPC vendors. Now it's kept low by macro's, so, removing macro's would cause everything to cost a lot more

Veldspar is already the lowest income ore from a miner's perspective at this time.
Also, what do you mean, ungodly quantities available ? Have you looked at the traded volume ? In The Forge, roughly 30-40 billion units change hands on a daily basis. Sum up all those that are up for sale at a reasonable price right now in The Forge, and you're not even getting 12-14 billion units, less than half a day's worth of trade. _

yet those volumes would only supply half of the fleet construction effort of a fairly sized alliance. ---

I haven't run any numbers, but shuttles are still made of pure tritanium. In theory, one could take tritanium, use it to build shuttles, then self-destroy those shuttles for the insurance payout. Whatever that insurance payout is minus the cost of platinum insurance minus divided by the amount of tritanium needed for production would be a theoretical artificial price floor.
Of course, no one wants to spend their time building and smashing shuttles for a few isk here and there, especially with the time delays in getting in and out of ships. So realistically, I would gather that there's no price floor, and that macros can continue to make prices cheaper for all.

Edited by: Fulbert on 28/12/2010 17:13:33 But bots also need to make money. Cheaper trit -> less ISK (per bot) for RMT companies -> more expansive ISKs for RMT clients The real question is : how much money do cheaters want to spend to buy illegal ISKs? The only certain reason is 15Ç for 350 mil ISK, cause it's the PLEX/ISK ratio.

I propose that Tom Gerard is actually too Troll to ban.
Follow me on this:
Nothing he posts makes the remotest amount of sense, and he continues to post it day in and day out, yet he's still here.
Logically, the only conclusion can be that by banning him, CCP would in some way be hurting themselves. Post counts would decline, the game would appear to have a smaller market share, and advertisers such as Quafe and Minmatar Mining would pull out, thus impacting the bottom line.
The only way to prevent this is to allow him to keep posting, and CCP have obviously already acknowledged this fact. --Vel
