Why do plates of armor require CPU and Power? It doesn't make any sense. Please remove the effect or tell me why they require CPU and Power.

I know it balances the game but its just so illogical maybe armor slots would solve the problem.

Megnetic couplers hold the plates down and require a large amout of power\cpu to make sure they dont decouple during combat.
Or they Weigh so much that the added mass requires more power\cpu to make sure the engines will still move the ship. "I want a Secure can thats as big as my Jet can for solo mining :P 27k m3"

I assumed they were just welded on or used flameless welding as for the mass issue then they should have veloctiy reducing properties instead of costing CPU and Power

The armor plates are not just a huge chunk of metal. They are also "powered" to increase resistances.

Thats kind of the response I was expecting but whats the point of armor hardeners than if you can just boost resistances on the regular plates.

Well if they were welded on then they would not be removeable with out risk of damaging the ship. just my two cents "I want a Secure can thats as big as my Jet can for solo mining :P 27k m3"

Better question - why is this in Features and Ideas instead of ships and modules.
Unless you consider "tell me why or remove it" an idea worthy of implementation? --Vel

you pick how you want to tank and fly. plates weigh you down but are a beefier tank.
With minny cruisers like stabber/vaga for example, some like them plated some like them hardened. Value of hardeners is you keep your agility and speed (if you like to speed tank, hards are for you). But you give yourself a glass jaw....less armor points and webs and scrams are not something you like to see used against you. Plates you move slower and lose agility but enemy ahs to chew through more armor HP.
