I just realized this ship is now the perfect ship; it tricks miners into mining solo, they don't even need a hauler 
And lets face it, the real problem with miners and a lot of other things in EvE is this solo mentality.
This mining ship change just gives them the thing that has always been getting them killed: solo play

People arn't going around in BCs killing macks/hulks.
I do it with catalysts so it has a profitability to it. Unless people pony up rewards far in excess of 10m i don't see the BC thing being a true worry. |

No matter if you are mining solo or with 300 corp mates. If your mack is a pure yield fit 2 tornados to the kisser will make you go boom.
Also people who do it competitively (hulkageddon, 'mackalypse', etc) don't really care about spending money.

Spending money does matter. Had Oxygen Achasse used a tornado for each of his kills that would have been ~22,400,000,000 isk in ship cost alone.

A guy in piekura had the DC2, MSE2 invuln and rigs fit. He switched over to a skiff last night.
I'm not sure that people that are concerned about tank would put a strong tank on a mack instead of just switching. |

The best tank I can get out of a silly-fit Mack is somewhere in the region of 55k EHP (of which 40k is shield buffer, so suddenly those fabled Tornados don't work any more, especially if someone was mean enough to bring a logiGǪ).

You only need one ship to carry Hobs for belt rats not that they can tackle or break shield recharge anyway. Have the rest of them hold ECM Drones along with there mining drones. 6 or 7 Flights of ECM Drones, maybe even a couple with 600's will get rid of tackle long before said battleship can break the first 30+ EHP Tank.
That along with BG (Former CEO's) Checks and KB Checks will eliminate practically all repeat offenders from entry.
Easy tactics become a whole lot less easy when your victims take an ounce of prevention. |

False. CCP would just take the easiest method and seed the market (either minerals, ships/mods, or both) instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. This would pretty much kill the idea that there is a free market, your industrialists and traders would vacate, hitting the wallet of CCP and slowing down work fixing or expanding on the skeleton of a game left for wannabe space pirates and imperial warmongers to blow each other up in.

The new Mack and retriver have enough tank if you fit them properly to discourage cheap ganks. Especially if you fit them
properly. ( read: TANKY )
The good part for me is, that now I don't have to park my orca next to it to haul piles of ice, I just send my alts to the belt in tanked up retrievers, and go do something else/usefull/fun on my main, switch windows once in an hour or so, to dock up and unload. Sure the yield is crappier than before, but who cares, as I can now effectively mine solo with my alts while I'm blowing people up, or doing other stuff with my main. ( like spinning in a station, or just idling, taking a nap.. what have you.. )
