I started out with Revelations II, so I played in the classic client for a quite a while before Trinity came out.
Overheating was all new and shiny back then and the old exploration system of scanning for hours and hours with Multispecs.
Funny how that's over 2-3 years ago now, it all goes so fast.

So, what expansion was live when you joined EVE and anything you miss from that period? (ship engine trails how I miss thee)

Engine trails were before my time. Have seen clips of it on Youtube though, wouldn't mind if they made a return heh.

Quantum Rise was live when I joined. Roughly about the time the Orca was released. I remember flying around a corpmate's Orca in my Navitas and thinking, "My God, that's a monster of a ship" lol.

Cant remember but there was no skill que, faction warfare or wormholes.

 1. I quit when there was no skill que for quite a while I think. I mean it was such a chore especially if you were even moderately busy irl.

 2. I remember I came back for faction warfare from some round of quitting could have been the skill que one. I don't know. But I refused to get my standings up through missions and didn't know the easy way or how to do it at all. I asked in help but otherwise didn't research it, quit.

 3. Wormholes, I don't know if I had come back for them or if I was randomly back for some reason. But I didn't know they ,made scanning infinitely better so I didn't try to find them, quit.

Came back in July made a random character

I actually wanted to make a new character (I don't get attached to them) and was about to quit again because of learning skills when they were announced to be removed.

Empyrean Age. I remember ridiculously fast ships and engine trails. I also remember being somewhat disappointed when I came to the revelation that you needed to fit a ship to go max speed or 0 m/s because of the OP strength of webs. Luckily they were nerfed soon after.

I started with quantum rise, but not with this character. This one, which is the only character I have besides a cyno alt, I started in Apocrypha. Honestly, I wish I still had that first character, but that was back when I was still making new characters and trying to figure out which race was the best. Then they made race and bloodline ultimately meaningless and so here I am, with what was originally meant to be a market alt, lulzy.

same here, I clearly remember Red Moon Rising, Exodus too...

eve was better back them - almost everyone was a newb, and hardcore players had Myrmidons and Microwarpdrives tech 2! (It was the best a player could have)

I can't remember when I started to first play anymore, but I remember well the moment I left the starter system and went exploring this strange new universe.

My first and oldest character was an Amarr, because lazors are kool!!! I was getting a feel for playing the game and felt pretty good after seeing how my new executioner outperformed my previous ship, a powerful combat vessel called an Impairor that vaporized hostile vessels with it's powerful laser weapon in mere seconds. I also had already upgraded some civilian modules to military ones, and I was confident I was well on my way to be a badass spacepilot.

I managed to jump a few systems without a problem until I encountered a dangerous situation. On the gate I noticed 2 player piloted Armageddon class battleships. There was a message in local "This space belongs to *can't remember* corporation. Leave immediately or be destroyed.". I froze and hesitated for a moment, then looked at the situation. System security was 0.6, a significant drop from the 1.0 I started from, so I knew it was the wild west here and I was on my own.

I was still thinking what to do, when the two ships got tired of waiting for my reply and a giant swarm of drones suddenly surrounded both battleships and started to orbit them in a menacing fashion. Soon after both ships started to blink and I knew I had to leave immediately or die horribly. I warped away to a random gate and left the system in a hurry with my heart racing.

After jumping out of the system I could finally breath a sigh of relief, since I was no longer in immediate danger of getting killed. I though I was lucky, since the guys were nice enough to actually give me the change to escape, instead of just firing on me without warning. I was in a small relatively cheap ship and they had expensive battleships, so the only reason for them to not engage me must have been that they were nice people.

I decided to stop the exploring for the day and visit the agent I had been told about. The world was obviously big with many dangers in store for the careless player, and I could propably use more money, experience and information before I was ready to face it all again.

Ah, to be a clueless noob again.

I don't actually miss much from the old days, although the drone swarms of the good old days were much more impressive. The new drone system is better though and the number nerf made sense, so I can live with the change. Most other aspects have more or less improved over the years, with some graphical effects being the only things that have actually gotten worse over time.

The one before interdictors were introduced. Exodus I think it was?

Anyways, little known fact: interdictors used to be able to pull a ship out of warp in a safe spot which was in line with the victim's warp path. IE, an interdictor would be at a safe spot half way between Gate A and Gate B. A Victim who warps between these gates would be pulled out of warp at the bubble in the safe spot.

That only lasted for about a week, IIRC. Anyways, that was way before I even considered going out to null sec.

Apocrypha. Had a character that I trained up for a month or two and then got into Hulkaggedon. Needless to say, after that party was all said and done I believe I was at about -2 or 3 sec status and had no way of securing myself an income -- at least I didn't think so, at the time, since I was still pretty much a noob (hell I'm still a noob).

Deleted that guy and made this guy a little later, beginning of this year sometime. Well, last year in a few hours. :P

Have loved the game since and have been enjoying pretty much all aspects.
And if you're reading this, you've fallen into a signature trap. You owe me 1m ISK.

I started about 6 months'ish from Faction Warfare, maybe that was Dominion, IDK. Didn't have skill ques, wormholes, before the Nano Nerf, before the new scan probe system we have. And you used to be able to spam the directional scanner button.

I started in Exodus: Cold War. I was active through RMR and then left the game in RevII. I recently returned because WoW is as boring as watching a squirrel watch a wall of paint dry cuz it's stoned outta its skull on the fumes. EvE really has come a long way since then, some good, some bad, but overall it's enough that I bought a 3 month subscription based off the 5 day return invite they emailed to us old timers XD

I started with the Mac OS X client - which would have been about the same time as Revelations II. I remember the excitement about the Trinity engine, and (ninja) salvaging has been a part of the game for my entire EVE "career".

On one hand I miss SBs being able to use cruise missiles, on the other hand I love being able to warp cloaked. Apart from that, I've been enjoying the game's maturation process.

Apocrypha every expansion since then has been a disappointment on some level in comparison, and more recently they have been 'crappier' with abandon features/half assed 'iterations' and such but I've learned that is standard fare here at CCP. Also they seem to have mostly failed in their 'end goal' where actual goals were stated/planned I think to dominion and tyrannis and I admit I don't know WTF tyrannis was supposed to do except set the early stages for BS dust514 linkage with side benefit of 'player controlled' goods. Just as I don't know WTF incarna is supposed to be because there haven't been any real blogs/releases on it's actual content for quite some time.

New content is great, especially when it delivers but the more I played this game the more I discovered what was broken/missing/made no sense and then found it has been that way since practically forever and CCP did nothing to fix/address it choosing to tack on more **** over fixing/balancing/renovating the broken/poorly designed stuff.

TLDR: My cat's breath smells like cat food.

What's the date of the releases?

I have no clue which expansion it was when I started. First one that had any impact on me was RMR. Alot of people complained about major gamebreaking bugs etc but I just loved the whole client from the second it fired up. Great colour, great music, bunch of interesting stuff added in the game.

I probably joined 1-2 expansions before that tho, but never had much feeling for anything initially. Was too much stuff to learn in the game as it was. When RMR was released I had settled in.

I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen.

I started in beta, but I quit a week after starting (back when Earth & Beyond was still going). I rejoined for Exodus, stayed until Cold War, then quit and decided to delete my character, too. Joined back for Red Moon Rising, quit again. Joined yet again for Revelations I, quit again. Then decided to do something different and return for Trinity, then left. Returned halfway into Empyrean Age, then left before Apocrypha. Resubscribed (had to change up the words) just after Dominion and stayed ever since.
Over all that, if I had to guess, I've resubscribed a total of 11 times. What do I miss from all that? I have no idea.

I started during trinity. I remember being in a fleet learning the ropes and the fc telling me to ignore the nano fleet that was chasing us.

not sure really but, I think it was Castor, it was about july 2004, back with the old ui and voice, and back when the only ships in the game where frigs, cruisers, and battleships (there may have been BC not sure) and the best ship for mining was an apoc with 8 mining lasers :P

 ah the good ole days

Beta 4 I think... Most of you whipper-snappers would ragequit over what we were happy to deal with just to have access to this place. Played on and off over the years, overall very proud of what EVE has become.

 Apocrypha.

So far Apocrypha had the coolest music theme compared to other expansions imo. I do indeed miss it.

i became a pod pilot on the 23/01/2007 i am pretty sure it was a couple months before the graphics upgrade but i might be totally wrong. i think i am. Those were interesting times, i trained for lasers because the ammo was free and flew in a omen for a long while. Dont know why i created a caldari. but i wouldnt change it for the world. i remember fitting terrible fits from anything i would loot in missions. Until i got taught how to tank.

I started playing in September 2007, three months before the Trinity patch came live.

What I miss about then: Gallente didn't suck. I started out as a Gallente character and I didn't cross train to another race until I was already fully specced into the Deimos HAC and Brutix BC. I like the playstyle that Blaster combat demanded. It was simply more fun. Unfortunately, it just wasn't all that viable in gangs. So I cross trained Amarr when they got that buff to the Zealot that included a 5th turret. After that, ever following patch was just one repeated buff to Minmatar after another until it just got stupid.

I started playing with another char a few months before ..Revelations II? It was the expansion with rigs and salvage.

I let my account expire after a month or so of playing.

After Christmas that December, I had the choice of starting a new char with like 800k sp or staying with my old one which had 900k, but in not as good level 5s. I chose to make a new char, this one, and the rest is history.

I came to Eve right after Bloodlines was released. I have stopped and started a couple of times over the years, and just recently have came back again. Couldn't stay away.

I started playing EVE shortly after Apocrypha came out, then took a break and came back after the expansion Tyrannis went live in July last year.
