I was wondering how many would be still flying Drakes for PvP if Ferox was a capable ship and not the POS it is now, due to hybrid issues.
I've read so many Drake whine threads since I came back...
The only real problem I see being used by both sides is that Drake is easy to train for, easy to fly and thus becomes the prevalent option for Caldari pilots.
Wouldn't a hybrid rebalancing solve the issue much more elegantly, allowing those that Fly Drakes to switch to the gunboat BC (Ferox/ Brutix) and therefore rid us the lag? ------------
+15% to railguns' dmg modifier -reduce Spike optimal bonus to 70% +10% to Caldari railboats PG |

Edited by: Jhagiti Tyran on 31/12/2010 20:12:17 I would love to see the Ferox get fixed maybe with 7 turrets and swap the optimal bonus for a tracking bonus and the resist bonus for a damage bonus and get a bit more grid and cpu to make it a good medium to long range railgun platform.

Well, I switched from Drake to Cane, but would rather fly a Ferox or Vulture. Pls give me that 7th turret, fitting and cap to use it.

A good majority of the people who presently fly drakes in PVP are flying them because they are the present flavor of the month. If the Ferox becomes the new flavor of the month, then those pilots will train up Medium Hybrid Turrets and fly the Ferox instead. People will always choose to favor the most effective thing they can. How is this even a question?

For a ship to gain FOTM status it has to offer something, or a combination of some things, which it can do better then all others.
But yea, a ship which doesnt offer anything at all.... you get what I mean.

Edited by: Feyn Azuil on 31/12/2010 21:21:00 Drakes have been flown en masse for like 4-5 years... how can you call them fotm? more like flavor of the decade. And a ferox is a tier1 bc, all the tier 1 bc's are sub-par compared to the tier2's.
Also, rail feroxes suck and will always suck...For what it is (tier1), the blaster ferox is a fine ship. It makes blasters not suck. Don't just parrot the hype, go learn to fit and fly one correctly and you won't be disappointed. The ferox's problem is the same problem pretty much all the tier1 bc's have: tier2 bc's are more common and more capable. If you want to "fix the ferox" you just need to eliminate the tier differences.

Or it can just enjoy the benefit of whatever used to be FOTM having been recently nerfed, elevating what used to be a second-rate option to elevated status without actually increasing the merit of that option. This is exactly what happens every time anything is nerfed: another thing, previously not nearly as good at the thing that was just nerfed, becaomes the new "best thing" until it, too, is nerfed or the mechanics that allow its superiority are changed. People will always flock to what they believe are the most effective setups.
