This might have been brought up before, but in case it hasn't:
why does the 10MN afterburner II have higher fitting requirements than the 10MN afterburner I/Y-S8?
Just looking at the other classes:
1MN afterburner I = Monopropellant I Hydrazine Boosters = Cold-Gas Arcjet Thrusters = 1MN afterburner II = 10MW, 15TF
100MN afterburner I = LiF Fueled I Booster Rockets = 100MN afterburner II = 625MW, 50TF
Whereas for 10MN:
10MN afterburner I = Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners = 50MW, 25TF
10MN afterburner II = 63MW, 25TF
Is this intentional or an oversight? If it's intentional, what's the reasoning? 10MN microwarpdrive IIs have the same requirements as 10MN microwarpdrive Is ¼_¼

thats goes for ALL tech2 items. they most often then not are just marginaly better attrib vise then a tech1 ubernamed version, but require more fitting skills.
Pro for this is named tech2 will be uberleet (betst tech2 will be tech3 almost) and is alot easier and, more often then not, cheaper then named tech1

lol - we had this discussion almost a year ago aswell - back when the 10mn ab II were released... since they have not fixed it by now I'm guessing it is that way for a reason (dont ask me which).. ---------------------------------------- Buying Co-processor II bpo |

reason is oversizing: b4 patch, you could fit 10mn AB on frig and it had similar effect as 1mn mwd in speed, exept no cap penalty and no sig. penalty.
now oversizin is nerfed by adding mass

i've noticed this, it does seem intentional, however a little weird, i think they maybe indended to have the small AB II have more pg but maybe though that it was already high enough and adding anymore would make it more useless to put on a frig, as fitting/module wise cruisers and bs have a lot more room to manouver when it comes to pg.

I dont want to hijack the thread - but i think its connected.
Its not only 10mn ABS which have this anomaly. I have recently noticed that mega beam lasers have the same problem. As if the huge skill requirements are not bad enough, the requirements for power and cpu are as shown :-
Mega beam 1 - power need = 3250 - cpu need = 55 Mega beam 2 - power need = 3575 - cpu need = 58
I too was wondering if its an error or intentional as most tech 2 items seems to have the same power and cpu requirements as their tech 1 counterparts

If that was the reason, why just for 10MN AB II and not for 100MN AB II?

When it comes to weapons the tech II versions use more grid and cpu, which is fine as it's consistent across the board.
e.g.
light ion blaster I/II: 7MW & 15TF / 8MW & 17TF 720mm howitzer artillery I/II: 250MW & 30MW / 275MW & 32MW tachyon beam laser I/II: 3750MW & 60TF / 4125MW & 63TF
Just this one little inconsistency seemed a bit odd.
