holy crap the slot limitation when undocked is incredibly annoying. I really hope this doesn't make it into the final build.

I also agree it's annoying.
What's the reason for this change ?
It's not possible anymore to customize your module shortcut by their possition, your limited by the numbers of slots 
I usually put all always-active tanking/boosting modules in the lower line to quickly active them with CRTL+Fn1-8, if for example you have 5 modules(hardener/booster/gang links) but only 3 low slots you're screwed, you have to put them in the middle line or split them between the low and middle line.
same problem if you want to put all your modules on the top line for direct Fn1-8 access but have only a few high slots, if you can't regroup some turrets/launcher to save some space you will have to split your modules across top/middle/low UI lines

Yep it's ******ed crap. Hopefully just someone was tired and mixed up some variable but there should always be the ability to bind to all 8 usual F buttons, perhaps even extend it to 12.
Personally I like an offensive->defensive row, i.e. cloak/point F1 to DC2 on F8. And prop mod always on the same Fn, no having to remember each fit, royal PITA if dualboxing.
As for the rigs fitting thing, come on, this is Eve, 'HTFU', don't go soft CCP, let people learn from their mistakes if they didn't want to fit that rig combo. Or give a prompt that can remember a preference if you must waste time changing this. |

I suggest you bug report it.
If it comes back with an answer to the effect that it's intended that way, tell them the intention is stupid and that making code bad intentionally doesn't mean it's any less of a bug.

Tis indeed a bug, we would of course not intentionally restrict you to only bind to the F key according to your slot counts. F1-F8 (ctrl/alt) will be possible again soon on sisi.

What about that extending it to F9-12 eh? 
And the rig/fitting load warning? You even get it when trying to load a fit for a pod it seems, rather than no fit option or a prompt that you need to be in a ship, the only complaint is you might rig it...  |
