Please if this is off topic or there is a better place for it let me know or move it where it needs to be.
I would like to understand why during an active combat mission there is not some type of timer after mission turnins before another person is able to salvage my mission. We are activly running level 4 missions for salvage to use in the corp, armor plates are expensive as well as alloy bars and we use them to build rigs,,,, now with that being said the people in the game are always jumping in to our lvl 4 missions and running around salvaging our mission activly during the mission. How are we supposed to do anything about that? flying an active salvager during the mission is dangerous at best since the last patch and shifting aggro. I think again that this should be illegal during the mission running itself now say half hour after the mission is turned in fine let em have it. So i would like to understand why i can take no action against them with ccp understanding that there are more people complaining about this rather than praising it. Please you guys should make a patch to correct this immediatly and flag them for the firing squad should they salvage it anyway. So again an explanation would be great

It's great that you think that an explanation would be great because there were already great explanations from different great sources about this. Tralalala

Move to a better mission hub.
Where i operate now i haven't seen a single ninja salvager or mission thief, but when i was up in Auvergne getting Gallente standings it was just silly with them.

Another option: bring your own ninja!
Seriously! Invite a ninja to come along and clear the field while you operate. Offer him/her half the salvage. It'll go faster since you won't have to come back to salvage the wrecks yourself, so you'll move on to new missions more quickly, and you can use the extra cash you get from bounties to buy salvage off the market if you want.
If you're concerned that the ninja is just going to run off with all your salvage or short you on the take, just fit a cargo scanner and hit 'em with that.
This is a social game, yo. Learn to make new friends and cope with adversity, or quit! :)

Put a salvager in a high slot and salvage good wrecks, shoot the other wrecks.
Do this for a month and Ninjas will stop going to you.

Apart from the basic issue/rehashing the same thing again; your suggestion has no practical fit with game mechanics. The ninjas are not probing down wrecks, they are probing down the mission runner or his drones. So there is no way for others to find a mission site half an hour after the mission runner leaves. Even if the mission runner abandons the wrecks (so they are blue), once all players leave the site, how would anyone else find the wrecks?
CCP has officially responded repeatedly than all wrecks can be salvaged by all without criminal tags. Sort of makes sense from an island nation founded by seafaring explorers in light of internationally accepted maritime rules of salvage in this world. We're lucky ccp hasn't extended that to the loot in the wreck too; that's how the real world operates if a ship is truly lost.

I thought this game was about risk vs reward. What is the risk these ninja salvagers take when they steal your salvage? None... If the salvaging of your wrecks flipped aggression flag then it would make sense...

They take the same risk a corpmate of yours would take flying a destroyer into a level 4 mission. More perhaps, because you could leave the mission and schlup all your aggro onto the ninja.
(If you do this, the ninja will just wait for you to come back and resume salvaging, fyi.)
But I tend to agree, which is why i never ninja salvage. I primarily ninja loot and just cherry pick the best salvage! So if you ever find me in a mission, don't worry -- I'll be sure to loot a few cans and you're welcome to shoot at me.
I'll encourage all the ninjas i know to do it, too!
Just don't cry when they run away, then come back to gank your ass and take all the faction modules that drop. Or, do. Some of them like it when you cry.

What risk is there in running level 4 missions?

*brings the doll* show me where the evil ninja touched you
um ok, by all means flag them for trying to salvage a wreck, for all i know is that more ******ed missioners will shoot the ninjas = more missioner losses cause of stupidity.
you said your "fleet" see lots of ninjas, why the **** dont you have a nocts/destroyer and salvage on site???? is that hard?
btw crying in this forum only attracts attention to you and your fleets lots of ppl enjoy care tears.

Fun Fact: Ninjasalvaging exploded when I wrote my ninjasalvaging guide (Suddenly Ninjas was founded about a month after). I was inspired to write it after trying it out myself. I got the idea from a forum whine much like this one.

Ninjas don't give a damn about the wrecks. They want your ship.
Every time one of them warps into your pocket you have to go here and complain like it's this sudden epiphany that L4 missions aren't instanced. Get over it.
I don't see ninjas complaining in C&P. If they get into your pocket and your BS survives it's a failure in their book. But they don't whine, they just chalk it up and try again. We could all learn a thing or two about dealing with unexpected and unwelcome circumstances from them.
Mission runners need to HTFU.

Shoot the wrecks.
Wait for the ninja salvagers to get near though before shooting them. I think it enhances the experience.

Do you know what we do when carebears do that? We drop a bookmark on our way out so we can come back off-grid and watch dscan to see when you leave. Once you no longer show up on dscan, we go back to your wrecks and cherry pick the best ones before you get back with your salvage boat. Many mission-runners don't even notice that all the large wrecks are gone.
The only way to combat ninja salvagers effectively: bring a friend! (Double that if your friend is a ninja!)
Failing that, here is a recent essay written by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet about coping with stress that might help: http://dalailama.com/messages/articles/counter-stress

Edited by: Sniping Wolf on 07/01/2011 23:11:16 Edited by: Sniping Wolf on 07/01/2011 23:10:42 Ok so to clarify fyi Im not whining, Im new to the game as you can see given the fact that i was not aware it was us these looters were scanning down rather than the wreck sites and second Im not opposed to any game mechanics that could be explained and was plainly stating my opinion on the matter at hand. I would still say that this issue was NOT thought through well enough as yes I understand they can salvage and most likely they are after my ship, but being its all corpies that are in the mission area with me it is unlikly that a single player will warp in and steal as my group size has been as large as 5 per run, its not the money its the fleet coop that we were after with the exception of the salvage paving the way for future things in the game for the corp. None of these individuals spoken about would dare steal even when taunted to do so and bragged / spammed local chat about how much blah money they got and linking quantites of parts obtained as well. As for the one on one combat they are not red + im in high sec = no shots fired on my part as concord will eat me for breakfast. "found that out the hard way", I just wanted to know how and why that was not classified as stealing.. because it technically is being they did not create the wreck nor run any risks of being shot at due to the flagging system working in their favor, was basically my case and point. If ccp sees fit to have it that way fine. But i think its a bad idea to have a system that protects stealing without any punishment and the system works against the ppl trying to make it as new eve players is all.

Also, working as intended. Ninja salvagers, aren't "stealing" anything; the wrecks do not belong to you, only the loot inside them.

you don't care about ss or your ship being destroyed by concord, just pod them a few times and they wount be back.
you can also kill your triggers when they're close enough, GJ you've got another wreck to loot. ________________________________________________
