This is not intended as a whine but rather an informational to CCP if interested.
I am doing missions for Lai Dai to get standings up for R&D and I am a little dismayed since the release of Exodus as to the pay back on those missions. First off I am out of the Missions business cause itĘs a waste of time, there is no profit in it at all since the patch but am forced to do them for the science character. I am using lvl 2 and lvl 3 agents.
I figure out of running now about 175 missions or so I have made about 6 to 10 mil. When I ran that many before the patch with my other character I made about 200mil or more cause of the implants and the pay of ISK was much higher. I get missions where the agents wants me to buy minerals, cloth for uniforms, and a bunch of other stuff which always cost me more then the mission pays. Pre Exodus I used to occasionally get 500k for running a single mission. Oh and BTW, I am using the exact same agents as with my other character. I think CCP has taken the paybacks and transferred them to lvl 4 missions which I am unable to do. Nor do I want to have a group of people standing by to do those missions with which I have to split the profits anyway.
One mission in particular I am disappointed about is a lvl 3 dead space that I did where I lost three ships so I can kiss that profit good bye. Each time I warped in, before my screen came up to where I could target, I was down to haul with two towers and about 10 ships attacking me. I had no chance what so ever to complete this mission but alas I tried three times to no avail. I always refuse that mission now on my quest to get standing with Lai Dai.
Before exodus my main focus was the missions. But they are no longer a feasible game play except for those with extreme SP that can somehow solo lvl 4 missions.
To add to my amazement are the story line missions that cost me 2 to 3 hours doing 18 jumps each way and occasionally end up two to four jumps into systems below .5 sec.
Ok, I accept the changes that are made and will vote with my feet and move on to mining or something else when done. I will grit my teeth to do the next 150 to 200 missions to get my standing to 7.0. I am just wondering, why the drastic change?

Check your faction/corp standing and get a lvl 4 security/command agent no matter the quality. The missions they dish out are the same, only thing that differs are of course payout and rewards. The loot + bounties makes it very worthwhile. You dont need alot of skill points to pilot a raven.

But I still envy those people that do lvl 4 missions on their own. And apparently you don¦t need a Raven!! I¦ve see people doing them in Apocs.

Its not hard to do lvl 4 missions on your own...
I fly an apoc and theres only three missions I cant do solo. Pirate Extravaganze, Silence the Informant and Intercept the Sabetuers (damn you Minmatar Navy Stabbers!). -----------------

That's can't be right.. I've made quite a bit, and have only done 3 storyline missions which means I've done about 48 missions.. for the isk I've made it's been well worth my time. And the offers I've gotten haven't been "to bad". I only run for a level 3 also.. _________________________________________________________

I believe it is right. I constantly watch my ISK. Even yesterday after about 30 missions I did not break a mil. Are you running missions for Lai Dai or another corp and secondly your probably not running them from the same station as I. I average from 30 to 60 ISK per missions for the ones I gain on and there are other that take ISK cause they want me to buy something.
Either the design of these missions is an over sight or it's by design. If it's by design, then someone at CCP is having a good laugh at my demise Mwaaa ha ha ha ha.... send him 40 jumps mwaaaa ha ha ha, give him nothing hee hee hee. Lets ask him for drugs he can't get ha ha ha ha ha. Lets drop a few slaves on this mission and see him get blown up on the way back ahhhhh ha ha ha ha.... Now he is at minus 90 Mil ISk debt ha ha ha ha.... I am not laughing, well it did ***** a smile. But I need the standing for Lai dai so got to put up with it for the time being.

It's just stupid of you to run that many missions for 30-6 isk and not saying anything about it before now..
No I don't run for lai dai. But I have a semi low quality agent, and I'd think it'd be constant for standings. _________________________________________________________

Doing level 3 missions nonstop I make about 10-20 mil a day (in maybe 2-3 hours of play a day when I play). That's short-stacking it, and not counting that I every so often will get a mod worth 20mil or something.
Just refining all the crap loot into mins and selling them makes me a few mil a day (i sold all my mins today before I started playing, and I have .2 mil tritanium, 100k pyerite, 17k mexallon, 25 megacyte, and 16 zydrine - the Isogen went to fulfill trade missions:P - this works out to 400k+600k+275k+125000+64000 assuming not great prices, so around 1.5mil - that's in 1.5 hours of afk rat running).
Add in that I picked up a couple 2-3 mil mods today and the bounties and rewards, I do very well. Oh, add in tech 2 components which I get a lot of (one mission gave something like 300 graviton reactors. hooray, beer).
You need to get a better quality agent, most likely. The negative qualities give horrible rewards.

his problem is that he buys stuff from players and not from NPC. the agents always give back the amount of ISK calculated by NPC market prices. to get some hauler loads of the main asked goods would save him his millions.

another thing not sure if you are paying to repair your ship but if you are thats y ur loosing ur money. if you are then get repair systems level 1 and a small armor repairer(you should find one in loot) and righ there you will save 2-3 mill a day

Maybe its time you moved up in the agent world? Im doing level 4 missions right now and i make a minium of 750k a mission if I solo. It takes me about 20 min a mission so figure 2.25 mil an hour for three missions.

Are there any L4 security agents for Lai Dai? I don't recall there being any. ---------------

Edited by: Snake Jankins on 21/01/2005 12:05:59 Lvl.3 deadspace missions are a lot (!) easier than before. The reduced velocity of all deadspace enemies let me finish missions like serpentis spies with ease. ( Last year, I lost my Rupture there and it took me almost a complete night, because some cruiser spawns approached with 600m/s and used some nasty tricks. ) Rogue drones are also much easier, because of their reduced speed. E.g the high level drones in lvl.3 missions are slower than a ship with AB now.
So maybe you're right regarding the courier missions. But I've done a lot of lvl.2 and lvl.3 kill missions now, my standing is something like 7.50 with the Republic Fleet now and I don't think that it was too hard to get there.

Ok two cents...
Now I've performed "silence the informant" solo twice now with a Quafe level 2 agent. (yes level 2)
My first time through I did not read any of these posts and flew in flying an Omen. Once I got to the second tier with the Drones, I got my butt handed to me. I cleared the drones closest to me but did not play with the general consesused strategy of playing just within range.
(when I saw a couple of spaced corpse's I got kinda worried cause that told me some peeps get jumped in these missions)
I reluctantly flew back to the station shouting expletives in my egg. Went back to my HQ and picked up my tanked geddon and loaded it randomly with 26 light drones cause I figured it was gonna be a long night... (I've trained all drone skills up to level 4 & above which gives me nine to operate at a time with a range of 50k)
I finished the mission relatively easily after that. & tried it again without any issues. The implant drop is very lucrative and makes the mission very worthwhile.
I will post my load-out and which drones were effective & which ones took heavy damage later.
I really appreciate everyone else's posts about these missions cause it gives me a head's up about which ones I'll probably need help with later down the line.
Kudo's to all who have gone before me!
