Edited by: Sader Rykane on 07/01/2011 17:49:39 How many of your firstborn children would you give up to be able to have an active module (****ty t1 meta 1 version) as a rig even if it took all of a ships calibration points? Which ships would benefit from this the most? A retri... with a built in warp disruptor? IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES!

Anybody answering with more than 1 obviously doesn't understand the meaning of firstborn.

Hmm, a 400 calibration, expensive rig that adds a certain slot but with dire drawbacks? I do approve. I'd even consider t2 rigs which allow an extra turret or launcher hardpoint, on the condition that the cost is at 3-4b for large, minimum. Of course never above 8. Parrots, commence!

Not unless it's a photo-finish down at the goal end.

How about siamese or caesarean? Not unless it's a photo-finish down at the goal end.

So in interest of the topic at hand - not being firstborns - what would you see these rigs having an affect on? Same as current rigs, but with improved bonus when active? Or an entirely different role than current ones? Which would almost warrent them being classified as T3 rigs.
Active rigs that affect other areas: Erhh.. can't really think of any. Have them give an across the board affect that doesn't amount to surpassing two rigs of the same type, but effectively granting bonuses that ammount to that of 1,5x3 (different) rigs of the same type? (meaning, for example, 1x falloff, 1x RoF, 1x dmg)
Inactive rigs that affect other areas: Slot-layout swapping rigs, either adding to one slot range from the other (+1 medium, -1 high), or adding a turret hardpoint (+1 turret, -1 launcher/25Mbit drone control). Effectively they would be T3 rigs, though, which would be reflected by their cost. Higher the skill for these rigs, the more PG/CPU you recieve when adding one, to outweigh the increased fitting requirements somewhat.
As the suggestion OP, these are pulled out of my arse, and layout-swapping rigs would cause wide-spread outcry unless they could only fit on some ships, perhaps.
Meh, just thinking out loud ever after since asking what role people would want active rigs to fill.

You know the word rig? e.g. rig to explode. Yeah I don't think this is what CCP had in mind.

I would only support something like this if there were 'dire drawbacks' like someone else said.
Maybe something like the jury-rigged module only works 50% of the time, or it turns a guaranteed module into a chance-based module. Imagine a warp disruptor that is chance-based rather than working 100% of the time. Or in the case of ECM, the module only activates sometimes and then it only jams some of the times it actually activates. ----- Marcel "M'pact" Paquet Greater impact than a planet-killing asteroid strike. |
