With the old character creator. A person's race was largely up to which attributes he wanted. This later changed somewhat recently, I can't remember when the attribute system was made generic. For instance, if you wanted high perception for Caldari you went Achura. And Brutor for the matar was will power maybe and perception. These things obviously influenced which race people chose.

Even if a person was white they had to chose a black or asain character. Being that the Achura male looks like a timid 13 year old most people chose Achura females.

This whole thing led to a lot of black guys and asain women who were played by white men.

Now genetically we are predisposed to attribute attractive features to as a whole a set similar to ours. I wont get into which set is truly more attractive anyway. But presupposing that most of the people who play this game are white and very few other minorities in comparison. This racial user gap will be put front and center for all to see.

As in many, many more character with Caucasian features. Much, much less with other features.

How will this impact the game, when you will be able to presume for instance that a player is black by the way he created it?

Will these players be griefed more?

How will it effect fleet dynamics?

I've always been wondering why guys making male avatars that look no way like they are in real life has never been a problem, but when guys make female avatars there's always someone saying "OMG you're not a female!!" ... Have you ever heard something like "OMG you dont have a beard!!" or "OMG you're not blonde!!"

Race, sex, appearence.. it really doesn't matter, it's a game, he who griefs people because he presumes the person playing is somewhat different hasn't understood a thing at all.

I've been playing Dark Age of Camelot for a long time, I had like 10 different characters... was I going to make them look all the same?

Maybe some people consider avatars like a projection of themselves in the game, I consider avatars like toons I control.

Just skimread this, but I kinda understand both sides. On the one hand, yeah, I don't have a beard, (and I don't own aviators because I am not a pedophile), but on the other hand, I could grow a beard. I can't grow a vagina.

What is wrong with someone wanting to look different in a GAME? If this was a problem I think Blizzard would be out of business by now or everyone would just play as a human, but I digress. The mere fact that you would think people would grief others based the color of someones 'made-up' avatar speaks volumes about yourself. In your real life, do you constantly view people and judge their worth and abilities based on the color of their skin or slight variation in facial features. Just because you may does not mean the rest of us do.

No way of knowing for sure, but I would definitely presuppose that the majority of people in this game are white. Considering the majority of players on tranquility are from the US which has a majority of "white" people. I think the UK and the rest of Europe (it's a continent, I know) is also a majority of Cauc-, I mean, "light skinned" people, too. I won't say Caucasian because I can only use scientific terms when talking to you apparently, even though the term has been used and widely recognized for decades.

No such thing as race? Really? Maybe to you. Maybe to your professor, not to the rest of the world who discriminate, hate and kill over this non existent thing called race.

I disagree with the op and this entire thread is epic fail, however your response is definitely on the same level as the op.

Maybe it's time to swallow some of that arrogance and realize you are still a "student".
