Hello,
I'd like your opinion on the following:
My main flies a T2 CovOps scanning ship which is fitted for and skilled for PvE exploration in low sec (scanning, hacking, archaeology and salvaging). I intend to use her for scanning down sites and performing the mini-professions in-site.
Ideally, I'd like my alt to fly a passive tanked Drake at the same time in order to take care of guarding NPCs and any spawns that occur whilst hacking/analysing etc. in said low sec systems.
How does the Drake perform in these low sec complexes/sites? Will a well-fitted passive tanked Drake (resists optimised for the site's NPCs) be able to tank the NPCs there? Will it be able to provide enough DPS to take them down (and if so, with T1 launchers or T2 launchers?). If not, should I be considering a battleship to perform this role?
The other option available to me is to get into a Pilgrim and do an all-in-one exploration fit on my main. The reasons I would like to choose the alternative (having a dedicated scanner/exploration pilot and a dedicated combat pilot work together) would be so that I can utilise both characters and thus be more efficient time-wise, and because personally I don't like to cripple a ship's combat potential in favour of fitting utility modules when the roles can be divided across two characters more evenly. Also, the Pilgrim is expensive :)
I realise that this set up would be near impossible in most null sec sites/complexes and thus I'd appreciate it if such answers were not to be put forward. As for high-sec, I have not doubt as to the Drake's ability in this situation. Lowsec is a grey area for me as I have little experience doing any PvE there and cannot gauge the difficulty level.

Lowsec non-combat sites are veeery easy. I used to do them in a badly-skilled all-in-one Arbitrator and it worked just fine (besides the Battleship-sites where I couldn't break the tank).
Fly a PvP fit Drake and you should have no problems.
