Hello, my name is Bom Barley, and I am proudly realeasing today the first version of Eve001Tool !
What is Eve001Tool? Eve001Tool is a simple .NET program that reads your market logs, to provide you with valuable info.
Who should be interested in this tool? You should be interested in this tool if you are playing the 0.01 isk game. Unlike most market tools out there, Eve001Tool won't show you graphs, or activity reports. What it will show you however, is wether or not your sell or buy order is "on top of the list", and if not, what's the new price you should beat. Eve001Tool will copy this new price to the clipboard, so you can directly paste it into the "Modifiy order" window.
Why is this good? This is good, because with this tool, I am able to update 40 items (and about 90 buy / sell orders) in under 5 minutes. Without Eve001Tool this task was taking me a loooot longer.
Some screenshots: http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/1751/buyorange.png
In this screenshot, you can see what happens when I clicked the export button for the tritanium market in Jita. Some infos that are displayed here: - The profit in isk per item : here, 0.01, which is pretty bad, not sure what happenned on Jita when I took the screenshot. - The profit, in %. the background for this information is red, because it has dropped below a certain threshold. For me, this threshold is 10% profit, but you can set it lower (or higher) in the options. - The sell and buy prices. Actually, these are the lowest sell price minus 0.01, and the highest buy price plus 0.01. A red background means I have no orders up for that item. An orange background means I have an order up for that item, but that my order is not "on top of the list". A green background means I am currently trading this item and my order is on top of the list, ie no one has undercuted me. In the screenshot above, you can see I have no sell orders up for tritanium, and I have a buy order for tritanium, but this buy order is not on top of the list.
Another exemple: http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/2860/sellgreenbuyorange.png
In this one you can see I am currently on top of the list for sell orders of tritanium. You can also see someone is trying to buy 2 units of tritanium at 3.01 isk (?).
Screenshots of the options: http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/6018/appx.png
The registration options. There is a free version and a paid version of this software. This screen is where you enter the serial I will be giving you. http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/3408/registrationd.png
This screen is where you can input the options for Eve001Tool. You must specify the folder where the market logs are stored. You can also input the station you are trading in, and the margin limit below which the background will turn red.

Edited by: Bom Barley on 12/01/2011 23:50:04 Edited by: Bom Barley on 12/01/2011 23:45:39 Is this legal? Yes it is. I have petitionned this tool, and a game master told me it was fine. I am not allowed to post screenshots of my petition here, however I can PM you links in game if you want.
Is this safe? Yes it is. I programmed this software using the .Net Framework 3.0, and only with librairies I have written myself. The software will connect to the internet only to contact the eve api website to retrieve character data, not for any other reason.
However you don't have to take my word for it, and I'm paranoid too, so I'll tell you what I do when I need to run a software from an unstrusted source : I setup a virtual machine, and run the software from the VM. If the software needs to access specific folder on my machine (Eve001Tool will need to have access to your market logs), I give the VM read only access to those folders. If the software needs to have access to the internet (Eve001Tool will need it to fetch API info, not for anything else), then I set up a proxy on the host computer, give the VM internet access through that proxy, and check the proxy logs to verify it's not connecting to any fishy IPs.
Is it free? Yes and no. There is a free version you can download at the end of this post. However, the free version has some serious limitations.
- You will not be able to see which orders are yours. If you are using the registered version, the price box will turn green if your order is on top of the list, orange if you have an order up for the item you are currently surveying, red overwise.
- You will not be able to copy the prices to the clipbard. If you are using the registered version, you will be able to copy the new price to the clipboard, and paste it into the Eve client.
- You will only be able to see the region wide price. If you are using the registered version, you will be able to select the sell price for a single station (for example, Jita 4-4).
Payment To be able to use the registered version, you must send 100,000,000.00 isk (100 Million) to this character, Bom Barley, along with the user id of the account you wish to use Eve001Tool on. I will then send back a serial number you will need to input into the registration windows. The serial is tied to the user id you send me, and you will not be able to use Eve001Tool with characters not belonging to this user id.
Download You can download an archive HERE The archive contains the main executable and some libraries, plus the settings file "Eve001Tool.ini".
Requirements The .net framework 3.5. You will need windows to make it work.
How to use To use Eve001Tool, you must first input your market logs folder. The sotware will prompt for it when you first start it. For me it is in "C:\Users\My Name\Documents\EVE\logs\Marketlogs", but YMMV.
You must be running Eve Online in windowed mode. If you are a trader you are probably doing this already.
First Export your orders (If you have a serial), from the "My Orders" tab. If everything is working, you should see something like this : (highlighted in red) http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/6290/myorders.png
Then all you have to do is click the "Export To File" button on every item you wish to monitor, to see if your orders are on top of the list (Green background). When a buy price turns orange, click the "Copy sell price" button, modify your order, and paste the new amount.

surprised it took this long for a program like this to come to market. maybe it is because the people that have them are making billions and don't want to share for a small fee...
good for liquidity and ratters, bad for traders like me.

couple it with a cache reader and some piece of IGB JavaScript to browse the market info on the items from your order list.
Otherwise you will probably spend more time clicking "Show Market Details" and "Export Market logs" than the use of this tool does save.

I'm realeasing it because I'm bored with trading, and with this tool, and others I'm not releasing to the public anytime soon, I've made enought money to stop worrying about paying my subscription for a compfortable amount of time. To be perfectly honest, the only reason I'm charging for it, is that if "everyone" is able to use this, there's no point in "anyone" using it, defeating the purpose of releasing it in the first place !

Have you actually tried it ? (honest question, I haven't received isk from this particular character, so I wouldn't know)
But anyway, it is pretty damn faster than the usual way for me. I have all my regularly traded items on my market quickbar, and one click on the quickbar shows the market details for this item. So in only two clicks (one on the quickbar, one on the export button), I'm able to see if my order is on top of the list (green), and if not (orange), the adjusted price +/- 0.01 can be copied to my cliboard in only one more click...

There are actually a lot of these if you have to spam export to file on every item. Its illegal if you don't have to spam export. That being said useful tool for not having to read long lists of orders or worrying about dyslexia when you copy+paste the price.
Also like every other market tool the useful parts are turned off if you don't pay.

of course it isn't.
CCP does tolerate cache reading and automation of market browsing using the IGB + Javascript (as done by eve-metrics).
The red line that must not be crossed is manipulating the contents of cache files.
But everybody's welcome to petition this on his own if he doesn't trust my information.

Any chance of integrating the cache sc****r? I already know where to do the IGB javascript autobrowser, but a cache sc****r integrated into your offering would be magnificent, as it would save me having to remember to run my own cache -> market log script.

It is something I'm looking into at the moment. my C++ skills are lacking, so if I'm doing something with the cache, it would be using the dumper utility provided with evelibcache (unless there's another tool I'm not aware of?), and from what I can see, this comes with it's own set of problems. (The csv files generated don't have the name of the item in them, so I'd have to have a way of linking the typeID of the object to the name, which could increase the size of the download significantly)
Then I'd have to check the "legality" of it, ofc.

of course it isn't.
So its legal if the only thing you have to do is press enter for every item to refresh them?

I corrected a bug which caused the price to be multiplied by 100 in some cases, due to regional settings. The link in the OP has been updated.

it is ok if you use a cache scraping software.
it is also ok if you don't press enter but have a website that pulls your orders from API (server-side) and refreshes market information on the items you trade in via javascript - without you having to click anything.

Edited by: Nikolai Kondratiev on 15/01/2011 10:54:11 Orders are even stored in cache so you don't have to deal with API and its cached data.
So, in theory, you could have your app with a mini-web server + cache reader doing the following : - Getting list of orders - Starts showing market details for orders - Stops when it finds an order where yours isn't on top and shows a pop-up prompting you to update the order (could even copy the new order value to clipboard) - Resume scanning once order is updated
But it starts to feel really close to a 0.01 bot, the only part missing is clicking on modify order + pasting new order value _ Ore Table | PI Profits |

So this, plus basic click macro, equals market bot.
Allow me to be the first to welcome a new generation of dumber then ever bots to EVE market. I look forward to exploiting your simplicity.

A new version of Eve001Tool is available HERE! (Link updated in OP also)
As per requested, cache scrapping support has been added, the number of clicks required is now even lower !
The other modifications of this version : * Much more efficient detection of exported market logs / cache * Added an option to copy the best sell price + 25% (25 is an example, you can modify it in the options.)
The cache scrapping is done using evelibcache, so you may have to execute vcredist_x86.exe before you can use this feature. (In the "Dumper" folder of the archive.)
To use the cache feature, you will also need to locate your market cache folder. For me it is here (YMMV) : C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_games_eve_tranquility\cache\MachoNet\87.237.38.200\252\CachedMethodCalls
Thank you to all who send isk, I'm glad this is useful to so many people ! May I remind you that for me to provide a serial number, you must give me your Eve Api UserID.
Your UserID is HERE if you don't know where to look.

Question: how do you deal with somebody who has multiple trading accounts?
Do they have to pay for multiple serial numbers for it to function, or can you work with that person?
I don't have multiple accounts, but I know at least 2 people who have 3-4 accounts with tycoon characters in each slot of said accounts.

We can discuss a discount if someone needs the tool for multiple accounts. Shoot me a mail and we will work something out.
However, this may cause problems if you "share" the trade of an item between accounts (ie an order may appear orange, even if the order of your alt is on top of the list.)

A lot of people seem to have trouble finding their cache folder, this link should help : http://support.eveonline.com/pages/kb/article.aspx?id=371
After the base cache folder, for me it is in "cache\MachoNet\87.237.38.200\252\CachedMethodCalls", but again, YMMV.

The IGB settings page you can see is part of a feature in development, not yet fully implemented. More details soon.
The expensive items are working correctly for me now, I'll contact you in game to see what could be wrong on your end.
