Err, yeah, Battle of Britain. That's what you get when you directly translate non-English titles.
As for "scifi" setting, please, we have the Tengu, the Cerberus and the like... Hardly "scifi" material.

Speak for yourself. Socialist I am not
in the real world the only question is how much of a socialist you are. we are all socialists to some extent.
do you like only working a 40 hour week?
do you like firemen coming by and putting out your housefires?
do you think judges should order guilty people punished?
do you think public highways are a good thing?
do you think food inspectors are a good thing?
if you said yes to 3 or more of these questions you sir are a flaming socialist at heart whether you want to admit it or not.
Lets say you consider yourself a socialist, and then you also like something about your nation (perhaps tea or biscuits)... and bam do you then become a "national socialist"?
I hope not...

H'okay since the topic went there...
If you read through the copious amounts of EVE lore the Gallente are mentioned as being descendants of what we today would consider the "French" looking at how the nation works its more of a French Liberal nation with American flavored politics.
The Caldari on the other hand are never explicitly mentioned as descendants of anyone but their home planet is in the same solar system (Luminaire) as Gallente Prime which may or may not mean they are offshoots of the same people. Prior to Empyrean Age the Caldari were very similar to an Eastern Asian (most likely Japanese) culture with a Chinese laissez faire (for domestic corporations) capatalism. Following Tibus Heth's rise the Caldari took on quite a few Fascist traits and now sit on the border between the two extremes.
Quite literally the two most interesting races in EVE from a lore standpoint, its amazing the Amarr and the Minmatar get all the RP seeing as how one is the stereotypical Black slave race and the other is the no-we-aren't-catholic-we-swear religious zealots.

Edited by: Ipene on 01/03/2011 05:43:54 Caldari are definitely American with the Achura being the Japanese. Just like Americans the Caldari are all about megacorporations, practical, plain wrapper design, camoflage wardrobe as well as war and conquest.
I am an American by the way and damn proud of those things. I like being on top!
The Achura are an addition to the game and like the Japanese are closely tied with the Caldari as Japan is to America. Being part of the Caldari nation they share the attitude of business dominance, corporate culture etc. sans the cool industrial designs. I'd like to see CCP actually give the Achura there own ship designs like the Khanid that are more in line with modern Japanese asthetics.

Edited by: William Loire on 01/03/2011 06:41:36 Thats definitely a Possibility but even prior to the addition of the a Achura many Caldari had vaguely Asiatic names. There is also the distinct lack of democracy or any central government prior to Heth. Likewise the life of the average joe Caldari is a lot closer to the indentured servitude/sweat shop workers found more so in Asia (bottom of the rung Americans aren't slaves no matter how you look at it). Americans can't hope to match the fascism of the Caldari state either.
