Originally by: Tercius Why no patch notes ahead of the DT itself? I don't recall that as ever happening before.
The reason why patch notes will now be published during the deployment instead of in advance is so that we can give a full and final list at the time of publication. Up until the very last minute we will be fixing defects and ensuring that we can get as much into the release as possible.
Historically we have seen that patch notes can be published and then some things are cut while others are added quite late. This means if someone has read the notes early and is expecting a certain change or fix which is pulled at the last minute then those players can end up being quite frustrated.
This new process means that more players can read the notes while waiting for the release to go live on the full and final build.

I disagree. If you pull a change at the last minute how can you test the impact of the removal? Software testing is very hard. The standard approach is to freeze code quite a while before release, to allow through testing.
Oh yeah, software testing is a complicated process. I should probably have been a bit clearer. If CCP are doing some final testing on Monday and find a problem with something they can remove or change that one part of the update, rebuild the update and test it again. If that is still going to be a problem it could well be a late night Monday :P
I imagine there has been a lockdown on code but testing will still continue and there is still quite a lot of time to make any last minute fixes. I'm not saying that they're still starting new art assets for the Character creator or anything :P
You have hit the nail on the head
