Edited by: Kurosuga Sin on 26/01/2005 02:27:36 Afternoon.
I have a few questions regarding Corporations and Alliances. Ive not played EVE since Beta 6, so almost all of the knowledge I had of the game has become invalidated by the changes(which is a good thing).
1. How many Corporations are required to form an Alliance? 2. Do those Corporations have to have a minimum size? 3. Can Corporations within an Alliance declare war on each other? 4. What skills does the character starting the Alliance need to have, and do they depend on the size of the Alliance or are they fixed?
That will do for the moment, thanks.

Welcome back,
To answer your questions the best way I can:
1. 2 corps can form an alliance 2. size doesn't matter 3. I don't think so, but then again, why would they? 4. Advanced corp managment skills I think, not sure though.
Additional, I would like to warn you, that the EVE you played and the EVE we currently play aretotally different. A lot of things changed for the better :P

Which is why I came back, Ive been following the game on and off since release until it reached a stage I felt I would enjoy
Could you perhaps confirm/deny corpwars? I intend for my corporation to function much like a real one, and so once numbers reach a suitable level, each division will form its own Corporation and unite under an Alliance named as the Corp. This allows semi-autonomy, but keeps everyone together.
But, I......have plans, which require one of the divisions to declare war on another.
Also, the highest skill needed would be useful, then I can go ingame and figure out the rest for myself.

Corp within a alliance cant declare wars on each other.
The alliance declares the war - and ALL corps follow that.
Think of an alliance as a really really big corp. it acts as way (with standings and war declarations).
And note, people outside can no longer declare war on only one member corp, they will declare war on the alliance as a whole.
if i were you i would rethink what my intentions are... otherwise you might be wasting 1 billion isk... Cenn |

You need Empire Management V, and 1bil ISK. I don't think you even need 2 corps to declare one.

Edited by: Kurosuga Sin on 23/01/2005 00:39:47 That an Alliance effectively functions as a larger Corp is reassuring, and fits with my desires, and I can find ways around the war-dec problem. Thanks for the info.
Oh yes, could I trouble you for a rough-estimate on the amount of training time needed to go all the way from Corp Management 1 to Empire Control 5? Assuming 13 Memory and 12 Charisma as the base(I think Ill have to train the Advanced learning skills and get some implants before I even attempt this, heh.

Exactly 70d, 8h, 42m, 6s. You also need only 1 corp to form an alliance. Corps cant decleare war on each other (Dur? :P) Corps also cant decleare war on anyone else. The alliance as a whole can decleare war, though prolly not against single corps. No other reqs but the Skill and 1 bill isk. ---------------------------

Actually, i think that an alliance CAN declare war on a single corp..
thing is - they pay the same cost for declaring on a single corp as they do declaring on a mega-alliance.
you get more "bang for your buck" if an alliance declares on another alliance. Cenn |

Thanks for the responses so far, but alas, the questions just keep rolling in
How does an Alliance get a custom graphic, as shown under the Alliances section of this website? Is it only the Alliances who have already submitted graphics which will ever get them, or do CCP plan to do fairly regular(ie, monthly, quarterly etc) updates including new ones?

After forming your alliance, you send in a logo picture you have in mind. Their artist guys create your logo so it fits with the overall theme, and it gets added to the monthly patch so everyone can see it.

Ah excellent, is there a minimum size your Alliance must be to get a custom symbol? Otherwise I can see just about every corp forming a single-corp Alliance at some point and requesting a graphic.

There is no minimum size as far as I know. But you did notice that it costs 1 billion isk to start one up. Not every corp has got that much isk to throw away...

Well, I dont know about that. Unless my maths are horribly wrong, it would take ten people earning 3.6mil per-hour around 217 hours to get 1 billion. Thats 11 full-days. Considering sleep, work, other RL issues, a group of 30 players could probably manage it in three weeks to a month.
Then again, I never was that good at maths
