Do you plan to bring out a fix for this unplanned problem or are you just going to exclude those with older computers (which still run the game fine otherwise)?

What happened to my original post and the replies? Someone censoring discussion?
If you read really carefully you would have seen that I was asking for information on CCPs plans and timescales so I knew what options were viable.I was not arguing that this was not inevitable at some point.
I do think it is reasonable to expect more than 12 hours notice that you are about to be discarded as a customer, so you have an opportunity to take alternative action.

I don't have a problem with having to adapt, its just not possible overnight and I believe the change should have been handled in a more controlled way giving people reasonable time.

Originally by: Laashanna Really folks did you read what they said about this? This wasn't something they did by intent. It's something that came in from a 3rd party library. They only discovered this in their beta testing recently when they were trying to figure out why some people's systems were crashing.
Nothing actually forced them to carry out the update now. They could have delayed it, assessed the scale of the problem and given people reasonable warning before implementing it at a later time.

Not correct - the estimate of the scale is 0.3% - the actual scale will be measured by the number of petitions raised.
Originally by: Lork Niffle Considering back on my first post, system that cannot use SSE2 are very outdated. I do not know of many systems that can have a CPU that old and still support a SM2.0 graphics chip as well, especially without the system already having a upgraded power supply. I also cannot think of many systems like that being able to run modern operating systems efficiently either.
You are just showing your lack of knowledge here. You cannot actually buy new technology before it becomes available, so people buying a new system 7 years ago had to buy what was available eg Athlon XPs. Many AGP graphics cards from that time support SM2.0 graphics eg ATI Radeon 9800pro. The power supply naturally meets the needs of the system. The system runs windows XP fine, a sight more efficiently than many more recent systems running Windows Vista. Till now EVE has run absolutely fine including large scale fleet fights (without brackets - just like most modern systems). Full graphics works fine away from fleet fights. I don't play other modern games so their requirements are irrelevant.
