This really won't help local industry. Who the hell uses jump bridges to move massive amounts of material anyway?
For moderate to large amounts, they use Jump Freighters For truly massive amounts they use Titan Portaled Freighters.
All this will do is hurt small time alliance traders. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

What makes you so sure that small alliances will be better able to survive in a post-jb, post-jf world?
Currently a small alliance can supply it's activities in 0.0 with a handful of JF pilots, supplemented by the occasional JB.
Now remove those, and they'll have to depend on large convoys for supply.
A small alliance's convoys could be stopped by a decent size pirate camp. A large alliance's convoys would simply blow through a similar sized camp.
So once again the small guy is left out in the cold. Status Quo unchanged, more of hassle added. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Hello, news for you lady. CCP want's that you have miners out there again. They don't want you to mine.. no, they want all those fluffy bears sitting empire, stomping on each others feet mining veld and pyer to be out there with you and mine the stuff there so you can produce stuff locally. This naturally means more than just "jumpdrives nerfed".. read my post on page two of this thread.
What CCP wants and what actually happens are rarely one and the same. But you do bring up a good point.
This will force small alliances to develop everything in 0.0 While large alliance will be able to force through convoys from Jita AND build stuff in 0.0
One more thing in favor of the large alliance. Thanks for pointing that out. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

People are saying that removing JBs will lead to more good fights.
This is true if and only if good fight means large blob vs one or two clueless carebears.
Tell me, how are you going to stop that blob roaming around your form up points?
Forming a blob is alot harder than moving it. An offensive blob has all the time in the world to form up, they can wait while members move 15 jumps. The only limiting factor is pilot boredom.
With JBs you can counter a blob by rapidly moving players from across a region and form a blob of roughly equal size in a good time frame.
Now remove JBs and your choices for taking out that blob sitting on a choke point are. 1) wait for them to get bored. 2) send in your fleet by bits and pieces and get slaughtered.
Don't give me that crap about "It's supposed to support smaller alliances, the mega alliances are too big" Getting together a fleet to be larger than the number of carebears in a system is trivially easy.
So let's over power blobs more by removing the ability to counter blob.

This really isn't much of an exaggeration for how long an Empire -> Feythabolis convoy run takes. Yet it still alot easier and cheaper then building ALL the tech 2 stuff in 0.0. Certain modules, sure, but not every module.
Alot of players remember the old days, they remember why Jump Freighters and Jump Bridges were added. This isn't some new game change, this is a return to the stone age. |
