this is actually faster than i used to get when I played.
It took 9 hours to download and was corrupt 9 times out of ten.

My patch is done already, I downloaded it hours ago and waited until CCP gave the go ahead to install it(Version numbers matched). Try it next time. The key is not to install it immediately after downloading it.

CCP made a mistake, they SHOULD release patch to be downloaded sooner, before release.
I am on cable and I have no idea why I'm only getting 35kb/s when it should be A LOT, and I really mean A LOT more.
SO I will ask for a reimbursement, (GMs started to use Prozac only because of my reimbursement petitions.)
Update, it looks that is slowly increasing in download speed, but not near my maximum.
Another update, it decreased again.

My elcheapo ADSL pipe over here in Germany is maxed out too at 670KB/s.

I'm downloading the manual patch from here, with the DownloadThemAll! plugin for Firefox I'm getting a speed of 2.3MB/s - much quicker than the client autopatch, and it also means I only have to download it once to patch multiple clients.

With the autopatcher if you uncheck the "Clean up downloaded data" in the final window you only have to download a patch once as well.

For the record that's 300,000 * 1.288 gb (and some people will be rejoining so they'll need the full client instead which is 4x the size) = 386400 gigs. 384 terrabytes over a fairly short period of time!
I actually expect most of those people will either be at work or asleep...

Autopatcher was stunningly slow so I downloaded the standalone patch. That maxed out the connection at 2.1MB/s (ADSL2+). Not the first time I've noticed this either.

I think you should get better speeds simply because that was funny.
Oh and don't worry about it too much. DL'ed patch only to notice the expected time the server is coming back is now 16:00 according to login screen. ;) So you have time.

Meanwhile, you should be able to download the full patch manually at a normal speed.

I used wget to download the patch after they posted the link in patch thread and it finished in about 9 minutes. Whatever that equates to, I don't feel like using a calculator atm. :)
Edit: Just restarted the wget download briefly to check the speeds, getting around 2.25M/s. I'm in the mid-western U.S.
