I'm having the same problem. EVE loads the splash screen, cpu maxes out for a few seconds, then the client crashes.
I have verified that my CPU does indeed handle SSE 2, using CPU-Zso that is not the problem.
My vid card supports shader 2.0, so no cause there either..
I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm opening a petition in case.
Luckily this is only 1 of 3 computers that I have available so meh. Just hate not having it available.

Well, I found a work around that has worked for me at least.. I'll share
It appears that there was a problem with Visual Studio 2005, specifically the mfc80.dll module and systems that have newer versions of Visual studio run into conflicts with this module.
So after finding references to this in AMD's website.. LINK
I was refered to this Microsoft support page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/961894
which in return sent me to this Knowledge Base page http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/KB961894/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=2067
Now eve runs fine!
Hope this helps you guys also!

As far as figuring it out? I kind of stumbled on to it by accident while trying to upgrade Catalyst drivers.

why? XP was never designed to run multi core systems, i could understand it when all we had was vista but 7 kicks ass. Such a waste of an i7 also no full DX10 support for your 275, yes i know you have 9.0c but thats missing a few instrutions over full DX10
anyway that was off topic
win7 ultimate, Q9400, 4gb, 260GTXoc, Asus P-945 chipset mobo and no issues. Sounds like a XP problem sadly (it is 10years old now)
EDIT i jusr read the solution, nice catch for you guys running older systems more that can get the game to work the better. means more targets for me :) -------------------------------- http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1370931&page=1 ------ |
