You know what the funniest thing about it is, the clothes this avatar are wearing are nothing like what I selected. I did not select cloak or hoody, it was a simple military jacket.

I ****ed around with a couple alts before making Kahega and I'm quite happy with it, actually. From what I can tell there's far more variety than what existed beforehand. Keep in mind that things like shoes and clothing are more or less invisible until Incarna's full release, at which time stuff like that will be changeable.

Haha, my perceptions were mostly due to my browser being picky with which portraits loaded, so all I saw on each thread were the guys with beards and sunglasses.
Seems to have sorted itself out now, and wow you all look great.
Seems to be plenty of diversity and some of the characters that people are making are incredibly realistic. I will fall on the side that wishes there was a few more options, but apart from that I reckon CCP has done an excellent job with this.

People forget that the character only is something if you give some meaning for the photo to be.
My character isn't a mean guy, but I want him to look like someone who would give you a hand in need, while clenching his other hand just in case you try to screw him up or make a mistake. Its called personality, and Carbon can give LOTS of it for the portraits.
I got my characters the way I want them to look. Obivously somethings are missing like tatoos, markings and stuff, but I believe in incarna, you'll be able to change to pictures in stations. Like a photo shot cabin or something...

Nobody is claiming that the character creator suck, it doesn't, it's a good piece of work, and most of the characters made with it are awesome and kinda unique, if you take some time to build them. Also, the lack of clothes isn't an issue at the moment, since it will only matter for people using Incarna.
The problem lie in the lack of features we previously had, that made races and bloodlines uniques, such as tatoos, marks, complex hairstyles and such. As I said, it's an issue when you only got a unique portrait to picture your character, and also if you like the very diversity of races in Eve. I think that these features vanished due to Incarna' engine restrictions, it may require more work to add them and make them work well in real-time. But it's annoying nonetheless. ____________________

My guess...
These features are added once walking in stations is added.
Clothes, getting a tattoo, implants etc - all from player run vendors.

I have been railing on this.... tattoos.... I know they are suppose to be coming at a later time but I wonder why CCP has for now neglected part of their backstory.
They imply that tattoos are one the strongest traditions of the Minmatars, yet there are none to be found. Shame....

Actually with each lighting icon there are seven different light choices (small arrows). Again most of the choices look quite alike...

Indeed, having had an avatar with a tattoo for roughly 6 years and then not being able to take that with you is a pretty painful discovery. All together all forms of accessory (other then the oversized sunglasses)on the brutor models seem to have disappeared. Really a shame if you ask me, can't be that hard to give me some shiny things in my dreads like I used to have. Also looking at local it's all grey's and browns now =/ Kind of feels someone passed a law to ban color's xD
I am a big fan of the sculpting tools, I love the added layer of realism, but I hope they bring back some of the extravagant styling options like the face masks, tattoo's and bright colored all over the place robes and weird hair things (like Gallente females and Amarr females had). Also some more lightning options would be cool, maybe some light color's and such, that could really add a lot.
Will take some time to get used to this rather big change, but I'm confident that CCP will add more content at some point to get back some leather jackets and other bad-ass gear (visible implants, please ).

Quite disappointed in the creator... very few options, less options infact then the old character creator? Kind of seems like a step backwards.

Edited by: Brooks Puuntai on 18/01/2011 21:04:20 Feel there was some racism going on here. Brutor only had like 3 hair styles that actually would work with a black character. Also the loss of tattoos means that all minmatar just slapped their ancestors and tribes in the face. This honestly should have been pushed back until Incarna is released. Then again this is CCP and releasing things complete would be out of the norm.
