I am ANGERED that CCP deleted the character that I just made 6 days ago with no copy of it.
If anyone can recover my photo so I can create a new one, I will pay you 1 million ISK.
I am an artist can replicate my character, but not without being able to see her.
Please HELP anyone!
Thanks!

Sadly, because you have not posted on the forums until now, your avatar was not saved on EVE-search. You can only hope that you can find it in your cache as mentioned in the dev blog. ----------

I have logged into EVE gate, thank you.
Here is my old picture;

Nothing,
It appears as if my work is lost and I spent about 10 hours creating here not even a week ago.
This is sick.

Look in the other tread. Since you joined us after the character backup was made, you will have to search your cache.

If you use EVEMon, there's a cache directory for portraits in that as well.

Those numbers are for the generic blank character picture. As others have said, you need to look on your hard disk in your cache for your picture.

That was not enough time to update the image on the server.
However the portrait would/should still be in your local cache directory.
On Windows Vista this directory should be something like %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\<path-to-eve>\cache\portraits The actual path depends on your EVE installation directory and <path-to-eve> should be something like "c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility".
Your character ID should be 90277600, so look for a file 90277600_256.png (256 is the size of picture, others should be available too).
In case you have a different OS I'm sure someone can point you to the correct path for that. If everything else fails you could still search for a PNG file with your character ID in it.

No, your EVE Online cache.
It should be located in: C:\Users\<You>\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\<EVE install directory (mine is "e_games_eve_online_tranquility")>\cache\Pictures\Portraits
Please note that these images are NOT labeled, so you will have to look for it MANUALLY. Hint: Turn thumbnails on for that folder, or else you will go insane if you have been playing the game for as long as I have. ----------

The server that holds the old portraits says that you had no portraits before we got the new portraits today.
Want proof?, ok, look here.
Here you can see my old portrait picture and the new one.
So that means i have won 1 mill isk .
EDIT: Even when you had an ingame portrait, the portrait server didn't manage to render the portrait on the forum server before the new patch was out today.
So that means there is absolutely no ways of actually get you're old portrait that you only had ingame back.

I didn't know that this was coming, I just started playing. Have NEVER heard of an MMO that is years old all of the sudden and delete everyones avatars.
UO EQ EQII kind of did this as well recently SWG AO when it overhauld its GE changed a number of textures used in CC that migrated over to existing characters. WoW has recently annoucned that yes they are planing on replaceing the old original race modles and textures with new ones. For that matter Even Second Life has replaced the default avatar set several times. although its moot because who the heck uses the defualt avatar after the first day.
By the way they first warned us about this a long time ago in the dev blogs, Looong befor you created your account.
Here is a reality check, as they update a games engine eventualy they will be replaceing the avatars. most games tend to do this all at once when they overhual the GE. This is the first game to at least try to preserve something of the old avatars in its database. Others have basicaly not given a crap about that and dumped the changes on everyones lap with bairly have a nice day.

Make sure to log in after character creation through the character selection screen, then give it an hour to update and use the full links with your character ID again. Worked for me.
https://image.eveonline.com/Character/1_200.jpg
Change to http:// btw, and specify what size image you want with the full ID url. for example like mine: http://image.eveonline.com/Character/1202128579_512.jpg replace that 1_ with your ID. |
