I liked it better that way too.. mainly because the un-rendered pics told me who I hadn't checked out in my system yet. Now that everyone is rendered I'm confused lol.

+1 for the option to not load them. Used to be a good intel tool, now not so much...

The problem doesn't only exist for local, as I said I used the loaded portraits for a quick look if I had showed info on someone. This isn't excluded to the local channel, but also in corpchat. don't get me wrong I'm all for a change to local to make it less of an intell tool.
And on the lag, it is true that the gameservers are less laging due to the images being pulled from a different server. But now they ALL have to be pulled, meaning more downstream for the client. And they also ALL have to be drawn onscreen, more graphical load on the client again. So yes the new system is more relaxed for the server, but the opposite goes for the client. And people with lesser connections/pcs will feel this change a lot, and it will even get more feelable once they put up the high quality pictures as it are now only the low quality ones to try not give the image server an heart attack. ---------------------------------- None of yet! |

Originally by: Gavjack Bunk I used unloaded avatars as a tool in the endless struggle to determine who was following me, and who was not.
Well I guess it's now harder for everybody, including my prey.
I also used this tactic. I would sit in a system. Load every single person and then go 20 jumps to a out of the way system and wait for the alt spies to show up. Worked great.
Still able to do this but instead you must set everyone in system to a personal standing which is a bit more work --------------------------------------------- Hate Bots / RMT? Although I was pleasantly surprised by this change, I was also a little dependent on the "people of interest tracking". +1 for making it an option

+1 was a great intel tool. I like the idea of the 'person of interest' button or something as a substitute. |
