Those of us who already have a portrait have the option of reworking it. Everyone else only gets the one chance. So block out four hours of your weekend, and sweat the details, and keep in mind that small details will not show up in the chat or forum portraits.
The in game portraits I have seen that "work" for me are zoomed in on the face, showing nothing more of the body than the shoulders. Lesson learned, we are not doing portraits so much as getting creative with passport photos.
