Dear Devs
Firstly can I say with all its issues, Char creation is probably the best new addition to eve for sometime, graphically its bringing eve bang up to date, and to be honest an area where I felt eve in general is becoming outdated, graphics quality wise. So nice welcome change.
So I can only assume your feeling a little pi$$ed at the negative comments, and rightly so. But there is a reason for this, and I hope to explain.
With every release CCP creates this fanfare, and great trailers and we as a community get very excited (even tho you tend to share content information with outsiders first and then we hear it from some random interview that CCP does, which as a player annoys the feck outta me) Nonetheless people are genuinely excited and interested.
But herein lies the problem, when its released, its massive let down content wise, its like you have release half a job, just to get it out of the door, and believe you me this is as frustrating for you as it is for the eve community.
take these examples.
Factional Warfare - Fantastic idea, everyone was excited, damn it turned out to be a let down, and continues to be, and still no significant improvements, just another half assed expansion.
PI - Another good idea, people got excited, great trailers - but doh! again seriously lacking in content, no one could really do anything of worth and well another let down
Char Creation - OMG this was like jewel in the crown, looks amazing, but again severe lack of content and no links to ancestory etc, where you have lost the essence of the eve races, where people are actually now feeling disappointed, and infact would rather keep their old pics, or not bother to design a new avatar based on lack of content and a worry they will be stuck with something they really dont like, and cant change later.
Just some examples...
Does this as devs not annoy the hell out of you that you do all this work only to be badly received by the community?
Personally i would love to see CCP do the following
1 release per quarter of bug fixes and improvements to things such as PI, Faction Warfare, Sov basically stuff thats already in the game
and perhaps 1 big update every 12/18 months. With expansions that give you a bit of meat around the bones. Im sure the eve community and new players would not mind one bit waiting for big expansions that little bit longer, if the actually content at the end of it, really gave us 'what it says on the tin'
In fact i am sure the community would give you all the support you need, cos in fact when you get it right we the players praise you, get it wrong and well you know where that goes. We are as frustrated as you guys are when new expansions come out and you dont get the praise you deserve. Cos tbh we WANT to give you it.
Its like at christmas your promised a plasma and you end up getting a pair of socks and some cheap aftershave, and your heart sinks. You know that feeling right?
So devs, challenge the big cheeses upstairs, and say no to quick get out the door major expansions, with poor content where everyone feels a little sad whens it released. I and we understand that you cant develop something to its full potential as it would never get out of the door, put please at least give it the content and excitement you tell us it will have.
Keep up the good work however..
