Okay, I have been able to run 2 eve clients with 2 different accounts for as long as eve has been released. But about 2 weeks ago, I started crashing with two clients running, no matter what I try. I have tryed it all to fix this problem, from setting eve.exe to belownormal status, to turning every option in the client off.
It doesnt matter what I do, as long as I dont undock or try opening anything in station, both client will load characters. But as soon as I do something eve takes a dump.
The Xp pro ms crash report states the following all the time when the clients crash.
szAppName:eve.exe szAppVer: 1.10.1520.0 szModName: hungapp szModVer: 0.0.0.0 offset: 00000000
I dont have any ideal what the above info means, But I do know one thing. Nothing has changed on my system but patch updates from MS for security leaks in xp pro. I dont know if that what is causing my problem or not becuase I cant rember if I start having this problem before the latest MS xp Pro security update patch or not. Just know I cant figure out whats wrong.
Anyone having the same problem? Anyone Have a work around or fix? let me know as I like running to client to get things done in eve...

I got the same problem too. Started a coupple of week ago. Seems like it crashes when entering a new system , or when turning view around fast.
The strange part is that it crashes the other client too. The other client just disappears , then the client I play hangs.
No changes are made on my system that I know and I got a good viruskiller so I dont think any changes have been made that I don't know about.

Does your system seem to not want to close the remaining client after the first one crashes? It seems that when one of my clients crashes when running 2 clients that my cpu usage goes too allmost 100% and takes for ever to end the remaining eve client program.

Edited by: Rahvin on 24/01/2005 12:43:28 Okay, I have done everything friends on teamspeak and anyone else that has given me advise to getting two client of eve running again on my system and None of it works. Following is a list of stuff I have done to get eve to run two client.
1) Unistall eve, make sure registery doesnt have anything listing eve. 2) removed and wiped the actual folder were the two eve clinets were. 3) Downloaded, reinstalled the full version of eve. installing twice in different named director's for 2 different accounts. 4) update all drivers, including bios. 5) Added another Gig of memory. Now running 2 gigs of memory. 6) In task manger, set both eve.exe file to below normal. 7) Prayed to the ccp god that all the above would work and allow me to once again run two eve client at same time.
NONE OF THE ABOVE WORKED
Im starting to think the whole problem isnt something I have set wrong. That there is actually something coded wrong in eve.exe that wont allow two clients to run. Later today If I can, Im going to try and do logserver on both client while actually trying to run two clients and see what the logserver say for both when they crash. I will let you know what I find out.

you said youve tried everything that every1 else has suggested i may have missed this on the list but have you tried disabling your sound?
before changing my prefs.ini file to disable the sound i tried it by disabling the soundcard in windows, this worked so i then edited the prefs ini so that i can now play eve and use voicecoms (eve in silence sucks but at least both accounts work now)
might be worth a try as i was also in the same situation, with top quality computer and no problems on any other games.

I would also recommend you disable the sound, that fixed all my problems, running 2 accounts at same time with everything enabled, except sound and it works great :)

Sorry forgot to list disabling sound, but yes I have luanched each client and did the Ctrl-Shift-Alt-f12 in both clients one at a time. I still crashed. But I havent tryed it from the pref.ini file, will try that. Maybe it will work if its disable before luanching the clients.
So what does the command line in the file look like to disable sound?

running 2 accounts fine here. Works with sound but gets a bit choppy. Add "audio=0" into prefs.ini to disable sound :) |

I run two clients all the time and know some of my corp mates do the same. Occasionally 1 or both will ctd without warning but very infrequent. When using both i run them in 1024X768. When paying attention to one mainly I'll make it 1600X1200. Sound on no other changes to default except that radial menu :P

Thanks, Tryed it and as soon as the second character on the second eve client loads , it crash both clients. So I guess it doesnt matter about disabling sound in the prefs.ini files for both client for me. Isnt a audio problem for me that cuasing me not to run both client at same time.
Anyone got anyother Ideals to try? other than just running one client at a time?

I have the same problem. I know it's not because my machine specs are to low. I am going to try to run 2 at once on my other comp tomorrow morning as it's 2am atm.

If I read this correctly, you have two EVE clients installed into the same folder? Why not try having them installed in two separate folders and see if that might work.

It may seem like a long shot but download and install Clockmon. Set it to 1 minute and 100 milliseconds. It fixed 80% of my eve bugs straight away and I run 2 ac. I also put each ac in their own named directory, one called Battleship the other called Cruiser. I did this on someones advice and again it seems to help, the names could be anything you like, apparently XPs indexing service can cause hiccups at times but as I'm no expert all I can say is give it a go. Don't try to be a great man, just be a man and let history make it's own judgements.

When I use two accounts simultaneously on my machine with a NVidia FX 5600 (and driver dated November 9th, 2004), I've noticed that either client crashes when the option "Sun is occluded by ships" is enabled and a sun comes into view.
Disabling the option works, EXCEPT for a few systems where for some reason the sun still gets occluded, even though it has been turned off. There are currently three systems I know of that have an occluded sun, with the option turned of:
- Austraka
- Rens
- Ishisomo
When one of those systems is on a route I need to take, I make sure that the other client has been closed, before entering the system.
If you experience the same, it would be nice to have somewhere a list gathered of systems that causes a crash. How to check: make sure you have the "sun is occluded by ships" option turned off. Whenever you enter a system, see if the sun gets occluded by any object - ships, moons, planets, stations, stargates, etc.
/Nalli
PS. This problem doesn't occur on a machine with an ATI card, afaik.
