Minmatar would really be your best choice.
You can transfer over your shield and missile skills easily.
In the Minmatar frigate lineup, obviously the rifter is a great choice for cheap PVP and tackle. Works great with a MSE. Also, the Breacher may be interesting too (the missile frigate), now that rockets have been buffed.
The thrasher is the best destroyer out there, due to awesome T2 small ACs and artillery. Makes a great salvage boat too.
The Rupture is one of the most powerful cruisers in the game. Put some 220mm medium ACs on it, resists and an armour plate and you are laughing. The stabber is not bad either, but a little lacking in grid. The Rupture will give you a nice opportunity to start training up armour resist skills.
In Battle cruisers, the cyclone is generally more use than a ferox. It is cheap and fun to fly. The Hurricane though is VERY versatile. Can be armour or shield tanked with some decent EHP numbers. Can be quite fast. 2 utility highs allow alot of fitting options. Can fit 220mm ACs for anti dramiel duties, 425's for gate camping, 650mm or 720mm Artillery for alpha. 6 x 720mms has a similar alpha as a Maelstroms 8 x 1200mm artillery too. Canes are excellent to use for small WH roving gangs too.
In the BS line, the Typhoon is one of the hardest hitting ships in the game. It can put out up to 1300 DPS with 5 torps and 3 ACs and 5 T2 heavy drones. Has a very large drone bay (200m). It is fast, manoverable, cheap and can be shield or armour tanked as well.
The Tempest is a similar story, it is alot like a large BC. manoverable, 2 utility highs, shield or armour tanked. Can put out about 1200 DPS from guns and drones alone.
The maelstrom is an active shield tanker. 6 mediums and 5 lows. Used in large PVP fleets with a full rack of 1400 artillery. It's alpha is about 10k at least. Can have ALOT of Hps with a passive shield setup (130k). Drone bay is 100m, so have to be a little choosy when it comes to drones. It is not a fast ship though. But then, it doesn't need to be. It is the best minmatar PVE mission runner.
Faction and T2 lineup.... the Scimitar is an excellent logistics ship, preferred over the Basi even in large fleets. The Hound is a decent enough SB. The vagabond is a favourite for solo work in 0.0 space, cause it can GTFO very well. The munin is a decent enough HAC. The Huginn is very handy to have around too, it's 60% bonus to webbing range is very handy. The Sleipnir... enough said. Awesomeness in a can. The Vargur is also a very good mission runner ship. It is based on the pest, but has a bonus to shield boosting and has a slot layout to suit. Very long range runs, fast and great tank. It's about equal to the golem in terms of PVE.
You can also get the Fleet issue Typhoon... one of the most versatile ships in the game. Has an 8 4 8 slot layout, and can deal up to 1600 DPS unheated. Phoons in general are awesome at remote repping, neuting, long or short range fighting... anythign really.
And the Loki. The second best T3 for PVE, and (IMO) the best T3 for PVP. Can make an excellent scout in fleet work. can tank alot of damage and hit very hard. Capable of doing nearly anything.
