Just wondering. Flash doesn't work, so is there any other resource that can be used to watch a video ingame?
Thanks! o/

I've never tried and can't try right now but HTML5 video might work.

CCP cant just support video rendering out of the blue. Even if it supported (Which it doesn't) Due to legal issues.
You have to pay the MPEG group a massive fee for permission to have Mpeg 2 and 4 based decoding and rendering on a commercial application.
A possibility is to use the Open Source "WebM" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebM However I question if this is really the best course of option as viewing video is as simple as going into windowed or alt tabbing out and opening your normal browser.
You do NOT want flash running in any way shape or form also you have to make sure that video is decoded purely in CPU as most GPU implementations change GPU speed to match that of its onboard decoded which is usually quite slow.

back when it was on the test server only flash worked just fine in eve. it was turned off for security reasons. possibly with the advent of html 5 video may become a part of the eve browser experience. but this all depends on the security of such an implementation.

Edited by: Zachstar on 20/01/2011 10:34:30 I am glad it is disabled (How was it running anyway? Flash requires installation into browser of choice unless I am mistaken and it is a central program the browser calls.
I am very iffy about HTML5 in IGP these days tho. While it could allow a bunch of new ability as far as tools running semi in game. I doubt that there is the security of other browsers preventing idiots using HTML5 stuff to cause damage to the EVE client or OS. Remember they can do things as advanced as running quake in a browser.
Remember the old IGB folks and how slow it was. We got a good system that ought to last us for years maybe half a decace or so before HTML5 or video is truly needed.

Wat ?
Eve browser is running in a separate process, just like your normal browser is. And the "prettyness" of the stuff displayed in browsers is totally unrelated to the potential security breaches
Besides, IGB already supports a lot of HTML5 feature (think it's just missing the audio/video features mostly) _ Ore Table | PI Profits |

Edited by: Siigari Kitawa on 22/01/2011 00:30:11 I don't care about Flash. All I want to achieve is being able to watch a streaming video that I create in the Eve browser.

FYI: IGB is running a really old (2 years) build of chromium that does not have HTML5 video support.

The short answer is no.
The slightly longer answer is that there probably won't be any time soon.
